Welcome to the forums. Never tried this before, but I would copy the mp3 file, edit it to the section of the song you like, move the copy over to your device's internal storage, and then see if the phone can see the file, and assign it.

download Zedge from the play store, search for your tone, listen and sample it then set it as your ring tone (all from within the app)

I second this. Zedge is the best app for wallpapers, ringtones, and notification sounds, IMO.

I've done before what Golf suggested, it worked most of the time.
However, for years I've being using Zedge and it works great. So I agree with the tall guy and Morty.
