My phone has always added the periods where needed. Fixed my spelling mistakes on many words. Capitalized the first letter of words and so on. Not always perfect but for the most part it was helpful. Since the update I am seeing it no longer does this. I notice on texting it seems to work with the capital working and the period but the spell check/correction is not working. I play this game on my phone that involves quizzes and these issues are prevalent here. I know I did not make any change myself so I believe it must be tied into the update.

Not just that app. To an extent on texting as well. Just did a test text to myself and included my wife's first name. It always capitalizes this except now. I then intentionally misspelled her name and it did not auto correct.
I turned on Predictive Text under settings and it seems to help. Need to test it out more though.

You using Samsung keyboard? It doesn't get back up anymore and not many updates to it unless OS updating it , I would try Google or Swiftkey as they get updated more often and sync your predictions, I've had this issue before on Samsung keyboard sometimes resetting and learn again helps but I use the other 2 more often now .
Not to sound dumb but I do not know. It's the keyboard that is there when I open a text to respond or start one. I've never known you can choose or how to even go about that.
EDIT: Went to Play Store and I see the GBoard is rated very high but then there are numerous low ratings saying that after the recent updates they are having a lot of issues. Are you seeing any of this?

Ahh ok your using the stock Samsung keyboard, what issues you seen on the review ? At the moment I don't see any issues. If you go to settings> general management>keyboard is listed there and any other 3rd party will show up
Looks like just Samsung. I turned the Predictive Text on and so far I see a difference but will try a little more to see.
1. Something in June about it is basically unusable since an update to it. Says it repeats everything. Couple other reviews are similar and all from recently. They are within the first 10 reviews from what I read but I only read a limited number so far. Busy day.

You have to form your own opinion on Gboard as others don't have same device or stuff installed , I used Gboard pretty much everyday and have not come across that particular issue.

Likewise, I use Gboard, SwiftKey and stock Samsung keyboard. I like to switch around, and none of them ever repeat text.

When it repeats how do you type? Do you tap each letter or swipe? I'm a swipe typer, and I don't have any repeat.
