I am starting this thread in an attempt to get all of this Froyo update stuff in one place and a little more organised. As most already know we had an early release of Froyo (Android 2.2) for manual install.

The leaked rooted version released by XDA find it HERE

Phil's review HERE

Also there was a developers version released more information HERE

A lot of people updated here are some popular threads related to the early update:

Evo 4G update to Froyo OFFICIAL August 3rd (OLD)

What do you think will be in Tuesdays 2.2 OTA update?

What have you found in froyo?

If your like me and couldn't wait for the OTA to update don't worry it looks like HTC is going to get us up to speed as well thread HERE

So post all your Froyo questions and comments about the new OTA release in this thread. If other threads are started about this topic I will have to close them so please read/search before posting. If you have other pertinent information or see something that needs to be in this post that I have missed please send me a Private Message.

Later,
Dave

I would like to throw the recommendation out there that if anyone cares about rooting in the near future and are on the current "old" official Froyo, I'd recommend sitting out on the OTA until you find out that one of the Dev's has created a new root method for either the "old" or the "new."

By doing this, if the Dev's created a root method for the "old" Froyo, then you're set. If they created a root method for the "new" froyo (release tomorrow), then all you have to do is update and then follow the instructions. :)

That would be the smart thing to do but... The lure of OTA froyo will be to much for most people, including myself lol.

For those who don't already know, there is a manual install now available, I am downloading now, today at 8 pm

I have it downloaded and it is now installing. I checked just a few minutes ago and it told me it was available to download

how do you install after download?
