NEW (Official) EVO Froyo OTA update thread

I loaded .3 over the weekend and it works fine. Will I get the OTA update? All day I've been trying to download from firmware update or the HTC software update. It keeps saying no update available. I tried on both 3G and wifi.

I don't think there is much difference, we are good.

Bump on the issue of installing the update if rooted (unrEVOked 3).

Seems there is no clear instruction on that - I know there have been recommendations, but with a significant amount of people rooted, I would think a sticky thread would be appropriate!

Yeah there is little to no difference between the two... If you have .3 and it's working what does it really matter?

HTC/Sprint will get you (us) up to date with the latest version but as of right now you won't see an update OTA for your phone (if you have .3) because it does not know to update you and I am sure they are working to make sure .6 does not do some thing weird with .3 when you update....

I have a friend with .6 who didn't do the .3 update and I can't tell the difference between the two and neither can he... When it ready I am sure it will push notification to your phone and you can go from there...

htc update wasn't working before, but it is now.

you're not the only one bro i get that too. I thought it was just me but i am not alone. I guess we have to wait because im guessing they are sending the update in waves and i didnt do the update before so i am going to have to update twice.

Yeah I just checked at 8:30 PST in California (Bay Area) on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 and mine still says it is up to date. Nothing yet for the OTA here.

Received the .6 update in Wisconsin last night. I choose to use wireless to download it. It took about 10 minutes to download. Then I did'nt know what to do because nothing was happening. I waited 15 minutes and turned the phone off and on. When the phone came back on I was asked if I wanted to install the update. I saad OK and the process started which took about 10 minutes. After the install rebooted the phone a couple times it said the update was successful and I am happy to report that everything works flawlessly.
