NEW (Official) EVO Froyo OTA update thread

re: Gmail pushes - After updating to .3 on Friday night, my main Gmail account was pushing but not my secondary. After a couple of reboots and going in and checking the settings, it started to behave properly. Not sure what caused it or fixed it.

Mine still isn't working!!! Any ideas what you checked?? I've done several reboots.... I do not want to hard reset!

Downloaded successfully last night at 6pm pst. Used up 60% of the battery in 2 hours of heavy use. Plugged in the charger to get it to 100% so I could see how it holds a charge overnight. Unplugged it at 10pm and woke up at 6am to find it dead. During boot-up I see it has 4% battery. What is up with this? I could of had 80% under the prior software.

I like 2.2 for everything else. Does anyone know of another task killer. My advanced task killer does not seem to work under 2.2. I think this is part of my battery problem last night.

I had a battery nightmare too last night. After the update I updated the settings to what I thought I had prior, unplugged from the charger at 100%, went to bed, 6 hours later I was alerted by the phone to plug in at 15% remaining.
I used to go overnight (8 hours) from 100-74%. I disabled back ground data (under acct sync) and recharged to 100%, I'm hoping that fixes something...6 hour battery life just sitting there is a no-go.

I cycled power to the device (first time since the update last night) and now mail is being pushed again. Give it a shot.

I've power cycled many times, still not working, !#$&@!!*#?&$#@!

---EVERYONE---

about battery life, after this update i opened Advanced Task Killer, and i found a whole SLEW of bloatware and installed market apps ALL RUNNING, and they STAY RUNNING, on top of this EVERYTHING is reset to sync automatically, and alot of crap is running that you have to force close.

i can bet that this is the problem with your battery life!

check it out!

When you force close the bloatware apps, do they stay closed when you restart the phone? If not, how do you keep them from reloading themselves?

I downloaded the update last night and installed it. Took only a few minutes and everything on my phone is working great except Swype beta which required a quick reinstall. Performance seems snappier and there are a few cool new features. Overall a great updating experience.

P.S. I never installed the .3 update from Friday.

I wish I could figure out how to keep apps loading at startup! I have the same problem on my Archos A5 Android tablet. The app killers work, but I would like to stop most of these apps from the get go.

does anyone know of a way to hide the number that appears after someone's name in the message list? i'm seeing like Brian Smith (456) which i'd guess is the number of texts in the thread but it's annoying and i want it to go away. let me know if anyone else has this and/or has figured out how to make it disappear

Actually, I was kind of happy that appeared. A couple friends of mine using the Eris had that and I had been curious why it was not at least an option (it still should be) on the Evo. Kind of lets me know where I can set my message retention numbers (and also how much of a texting whore I am..) :p

Had to flash with standard ruu, but after it installed perfectly. Love this update, everything is running so much more smoothly :-).

Not sure if it has always been like this, but the only way I can watch more than 4 seconds of a mms video is to save it and then open it using the video player. Anyone else have this?

Where are people getting the OTA update? When I go to "firmware update" I get "No firmware update available"

I thought this was supposed to have wifi hotspot capability??

Sprint removed this from Froyo but you can pay for it through Sprint... No way Sprint would allow an option for some thing free they charge $30 a month for..

I loaded .3 over the weekend and it works fine. Will I get the OTA update? All day I've been trying to download from firmware update or the HTC software update. It keeps saying no update available. I tried on both 3G and wifi.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

iHeart radio doesn't seem to work anymore. Every station I try it shows "connecting" in the top corner, even though it loads the stations logo in the middle of the screen.
