When I get a new phone, or electronic device, or well actually anything new that I've been looking forward to getting, I don't rush it.I like to just
I wait until I get time to sit down and enjoy that 1K moment.
Get a cup of coffee. Maybe even read some instructions, peruse the paperwork, and we all here know that we've done our research.
After that, THEN I turn it on and just do the setup as usual.
I'm just starting from scratch and popping the SD from my Note 4 into the Note 8.
And just sit in the big chair, alone, and flipping through it and drinking coffee.
Because there's nothing like the smell of a new phone, right?
I plan to be doing this routine a week from right now because it's delivered Tuesday, but we're going out of town Monday and back Saturday.
So, when I get back Saturday, it'll be waiting.
That's the way I plan to do it and I like to do it.....
BUT really now>>>who am I kidding?
Ima unload/unpack, make coffee and open that box and power up that much awaited for puppy!

Great thread to begin!

Lol, I am still new to the Android system, and because I had to settle for he S7E, I think my Note8 experience will be different. I'll likely fire it up, transfer my contacts to my SIM, and then save them to the Note8.

And then I'll likely start to install my apps one by one. I'm debating on using my same 64GB SD card or just copying everything over to my 256GB SD card from last year's freebies.

Other than that, I'll start looking at different setup, tips and tricks, and other "hidden feature" videos that I haven't yet seen for the Note8.

I do mine in stages, I can't stand sitting there doing everything at once, get the main things like Nova prime running then set apps up as I use them. My 1K experience of setting up usually lasts about a week.

After I get it out of the box, I power it on to see how much juice it has and decide if I need to put it on the charger or not. Next, I ALWAYS do a clean install, never do any data or app transfers to avoid those hassles. Then I let it sit and do all the updates it needs to do. After that I usually install my must have apps that I need for family communications and get my exchange set up for work. While that's happening I tear off the IMEI sicker off the back and get that cleaned up, put it in its case and start using it. It normally takes me a day or two to get the rest of the apps installed and organized and decide on a theme.

I just open the box and install everything I need. But I buy so many phones. If I took forever I would take a day or two with each one lol.

I crossed the aisle from iOS so, I already made a list of the apps I use (cross platform) and will download & configure them once I get the N8.

I already created my account on Samsung (backup & restore). Aside from personalizing some sounds, WiFi connections, etc... it’ll be an easy transition & set up.

I usually do it in stages. Fire it up and see if it needs to charge before starting with apps. Get google account signed in and the stuff synced with google, make sure that's all ok. I have a lot of apps on the old phone I am using and from the Pixel XL I don't want on my new Note so will do the apps one by one. email, Samsung account. Then, go through settings and fix it how I want. It generally takes about a week for me to get it how I want it.

I usually boot it up and fill the usual things in like Wifi password, Samsung account etc then just reinstall my apps, but this time I'm going to be more careful, look at what apps I'm not using now and get rid, so by the time the package arrives, I should have all the apps I use most instead of junk!
I'm going to use it for a few hours with no case/screen protector to get it in the region of what I want before adding the bulk. I'm not using smart switch this time so setting up email addresses and websites will take me a while with the mass of settings available, but I'm looking forward to it, can't wait!

First things first, always use protection. First thing I do is install a screen protector and throw a case on that bad boy. Can't deal with a tiny scratch on the first week of ownership.

I'll open it up & sign into google & Samsung, then connect it to the charger & let it charge while it d/ls the updates. When it's done with all that & has a fully charged, I will then start playing with it , setting up things I prolly won't use . This will continue for usually 3 days . Then when I have seen most all of the things it does, and can do, I will then do a factory reset & set it up how I want it set up with some of the new stuff and most of the old stuff.

mine does not come out of the box until I have a case and a screen protector luckily I have all those on hand already thanks to Amazon and spigen. so I will be able to pull it out of the box Tuesday night when I get home from work. however when my new unicorn beetle Pro arrives either Saturday or early the following week my phone will go in that and I'll keep the Spigen for backup

my ritual is to backup photos from old phone to my PC make sure all my music is on the SD card pull the old SD card out of the old phone and pop it into the new one. charge the new phone up completely then set up the phone but do not transfer anything to my new phone except for contacts. uninstall bloatware or at least disable it. then I download fresh installs of apps that I want on my phone from the Google Play Store

My new phone routine is to constantly pick it up and lose some sleep the first night
