New S7 Edge goes dark when calling

Could some members please help a novice.
Whenever I press call button the phone goes dark until I press main button....
It is very annoying and hope I can rectify quickly.

There's a sensor up at the top beside the speaker that blacks the screen when you put it to your ear during calls (to stop your ear accidentally touching things on the screen). If you've applied a screen protector and it's partially covering this sensor it'll black out as soon as a call happens. Or if you're putting your hand near it on a call.

Thank you kindly....when I removed the protective cover it worked correctly
But how do I protect the screen??

Does the one you took off have the cut outs for all the sensors? Another brand will work if it doesn't, but they have to be put on very carefully so they don't block that one.
