New S7 Edge owner after returning Note 7 today

Well, it's worth a try...on hold with Samsung now...

EDIT: Well after being kept on hold for close to an hour, I gave up.

Allow me to join this group. I am another refugee from the Note 7 camp. As much as I loved my Note 7 which was flawless and nevervgot warmer than 31 deg C at a heaviest load, the TSA announcement of complete N7 ban on all flights in and out of USA was a last nail in my N7's coffin. I went to Rodgers store today, hugged my N7 last time and left with S7 Edge in my hand. Just finished restoring the contents of N7 to a new phone. All went well, nothing was lost in transition. Had to manually set up icons the way they were set on N7. So far so good. The S7 Edge is and feels smaller, has not as good settings UI and is missing the pen, otherwise it's basically the same phone. I hope I will get used to it.

Same here. Ordered note 7 never recieved it. Going from a note 4 to s7 edge. Hope it's an upgrade.

The Samsung keyboard on the Note 7 did not work the same way as on the S7/Edge. It definitely seemed to have bugs and quite a few of us just gave up on Sammy keyboard on the Note. I switched to Swiftkey. Immediately noticed the improvement upon moving back to the Edge but now I'm used to Swiftkey and decided to stick with that.

Add me to the mix of people moving over from note 7. It was the best phone I ever owned. Hoping the Edge can at least get me through until the 8 series comes out. I had the galaxy S6 and S7 but moved to note for the bigger screen and functionality. Should have the edge in hand Monday.

Does anyone know the reliability of updates on carrier branded devices vs. Unlocked?

I didn't know the unlocked versions had some features missing. I ordered an unlocked Black Onyx but it wont allow me to use Samsung Pay or Wi-Fi calling, but those are the reason I want to stick with a samsung device.

I dont want the silver or gold, so it looks like my only other option is going to be to either settle for the silver unlocked on sale (which is now harder to find in my area) or grab a carrier locked one in black.

I've read that the unlocked devices made for the US market have Samsung Pay available. The WiFi calling will be dependent on whatever carrier you use.

See, Tmobile at least online has no black ones. I have a black note 5 so may stick with that.

Also, they keyboard and predictive text is much much better than on the note 7. The note would let me type garbage words and not correct them.

got the black onyx s7e on at&t.... pretty happy with it.

Yeah, but it's not available in Black. Someone else pointed it out to me in another thread, but I had already ordered the unlocked Black Onyx. It should arrive tomorrow, so I'll have to return it as soon as it gets here.
