New settings in the leaked Captivate Froyo build

bdpyo,

With the camera app turned on touch the left arrow on the left side of the screen to bring up the camera info borders. With the borders open on the bottom left you'll see a gear like icon you can tap, tap it. This is the settings mode, in hear click on the little wrench like tab at the top left. Now you should see an option that says "GPS" with a green check mark. Tap the check mark to grey out the check mark. Once that is greyed out it will no longer record GPS geo.tagging in pictures/videos.

Thanks, I did exactly.as.you described and every setting looked normal except for one.
I do not.have a GPS toggle switch in the settings but I do have a "Firmware check" option, what the heck is that and where.is.my gps button?? Lol

Well, my instructions were based on Eclair (assumed Froyo would be the same location), so someone else with Froyo would have to confirm what is and isn't in that location. But the geo tagging photos option should be somewhere in the camera app, unless they removed it for some stupid reason.

Yea its weird and kind of annoying, everytime I go into my Gallery it tells me like the address of where the pictures where taken. Lol

bump! lol

I just had a newborn and from time to time, post pictures on Facebook, I do not want some creepy homo child molesting pervert poking around my neighborhood.

But then again with the minor GPS issue, they would never find me! haha

Well, if that option isn't available, that's a pretty big problem for me as well. I also take pictures of my kids and post to flickr, I DO NOT want those things GEO tagged either. I hope someone else who has Froyo installed can find the setting.

If this isn't an option, maybe it's time to look for software that can strip that information out of the picture after is taken.

I did a search over at XDA and played with the settings on my phone and the only way I could get it to turn off was to go to settings > location and security and uncheck use wireless networks and uncheck use GPS satellites.
