New to Andriod via Nook Color

Hello All! Just got the Nool Color and think its awesome. I've been reading about an update to Droid 2.2 coming soon. Is this correct?
Or should I take my chances and root the device? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!

An update to 2.2 is incoming, but to turn it into an actual tablet you will need to root it. Whether you are comfortable with that is up to you, but before you do anything make sure you read, read, and read. Welcome!
