So I just replaced my storm with the Incredible and so far I love it. Few things have questions about though, hoping you gusy can help ( yes I did a search)..

1. When texting in landscape mode there is no direct send button? I either turn it back to portrait mode or hit the keyboard then send that way. Is this correct?

2. When in people, how do you find someone quickly like for instance how do i get to the Js quickly?

3. When the ringer is off the alarm wont go off either?

Overall Im super happy and hopefully these minor things have answers to them!
Thanks!

1. You can hide the keyboard and than press the send in landscape. You can also download HandCent SMS (I love it) and you can assign the enter key to send.

2. You hold your finger over the slider on the right hand side and slide down...letters will come up.

3. From my experience, I turn off my ringers at night when I head to bed and the alarm still sounds. Although, today it did not. Good thing my wife was already up.

2. You can also use the phone keys to type in the name and the list will be filtered. So for "Joe" you would type "563". It can be part of the name you want or part of the phone number.

Awesome! That solves the text issue as I already downloaded handcent!

As for the people I still cant get it to scroll or show letters on the side. And the alarm issue is still aquestion....

Thanks guys!

make sure you go into the stock messaging app and disable the notifications so you won't get double notifications with handcent and the stock app.

Handcent is AWSOME

how exactly do you do this I downloaded Handcent but both are still giving me notifications

Open messages, press the menu key, then Settings, Then scroll down to the middle and uncheck Received notification.

Also when you compose or go to read a text click the checkmark to make one default and press handcent. This can be reversed if you decide you don't like it or any other app that you've made the system default by doing the following:

Frome the home screen Menu> Settings > Applications> press the application your changeing and then press Clear defaults.

don't have the phone yet, but you can just set your alarm to 1 minute from now and test it yourself.

It does work, I found out why it doesn't...I use app killer and when you kill all apps, including the clock...it won't work. I killed all the apps last night. So the clock app wasn't running (aka the alarm). I unchecked the clock app so when opened it stays open and my alarm works with the ringers off now.

I've been using my droid and now my Inc for 6 months as my alarm clock. All the sound profiles are separte, ringer, media, alarm ext.

Also IMO the task killer is worthless, if you really need something killed use the built in one in Astro. Android does an awsome job of resource managment on it's own. I know lots of people agree with me and lots disagree, but I only used one for the 1st month and ever since I just let it do it's thing, I don't notice any difference.

I'll try tomorrow...not killing any apps and see how it goes. I did notice this morning when I didn't kill the apps I dropped 6% in 40 minutes without any usage. I killed 10 apps using App Killer and the drop lowered to 4% per hour with no usage.

Does anyone know about the alarm clock???

Will it work when the ringer is off????

I see you got it, but you may want to check this out as well:

Go into the alarm, hit menu.. settings and there is an option to over-ride system sound settings (top choice actually) worded 'Alarm in Silent Mode'...make sure that is checked and you should be good.

Since I too am new to Droid, I'll just use this thread instead of filling up the board.

1. Voice to Text
How good is it? The one reason I'd not buy another touch screen phone is a) I hated my fiances iPhone, b) I loathe my storm. I'd rather voice enter text to emails, sms, etc. However, if it's give and take, then it wouldn't be very useful.

2. World phone
Is it a world phone? Heading on my honeymoon in a month and may need to use it...

I've played with one in store and I have to say I love the GUI. Really impressive. However, I need my phone to be productive, not just a toy (thus my concerns regarding Exchange already).

I'm not getting this option - not sure how to make Handcent the default.

The Voice to text on this phone is amazing, I did a 2 paragraph email yesterday and it only got 2 words wrong. Easy to use the trackpad to fix to words vs. typing 100.

It's not a tri-band phone, I belive the only phone on verizon that has that feature is the storm.

The voice to text is great, but I also find this keyboard to be fast the best of any phone I've had. I did a typing test vs. a friend that's had a Tour for 6 months and I smoked him!
