New to ROMs... What do you recommend for me?

Features I'm looking for:

Fast speed
Increased battery life
If possible, get rid of the Sprint bloatware
Native screen capture
Sense 3.0 if possible. I need it to feel like a brand new phone.
No issues w/ downloading apps from Market.

I do NOT care for:
Music/video stuff

I do NOT play a ton of games, once I play a game, after a week, I'm bored.

So yeah... What do you recommend for someone like me? I also don't want to have to hassle with bugs/issues, would rather deal with a FINAL, STABLE build.

Oh, and one more thing - what FAQ do you recommend for a newbie like me to flash a ROM? Like I said, I'm very new to this.

Good luck!

Wait a sec.... Are you serious about wondering if you need root in order for this to work? Or is that a joke?

1) if you have a pirated version of boot manager, it won't work (not saying that you do, just saying)

2) you must be rooted for boot manager to get SU permissions.

I got past that error. I was able to make a new boot.img file. NOW when i try to install a new rom, it says error building new boot.img.

gonna make a copy of boot img and put in that slot

do you recommend unrevoked3 or unrevoked forever?

or do you recommend something else?

thanks, btw, for all ur help

If you are on android 2.3(gingerbread) then unrevoked won't work, that was for froyo. You need to visit revolutionary.io, I think that's the right name, google revolutionary root. I'll edit with a link for you in a sec.

And no prob on the help....just hit the thanks button, that's thanks enough :)

Does Revolutionary give me root?
No. You will need to flash this zipfile from recovery.

what does that mean - flash from recovery?

its cool, im just annoyed but it'll be fine, a fresh phone to use for rom installation is probably better off. im just providing updates so people in the future can link to this thread if they run into this problem

Your recovery is like a mini OS, you can install/flash zips/roms from there. If I'm correct revolutionary will give you CWM recovery. Id suggest promply switching over to Amon RA recovery. Most EVO experienced flashers prefer it.

You can access recovery by holding vol down while pressing power when the phone is off, that'll actually take you to hboot and you can select reboot recovery from there.
