i am new to rooting, new to android as this is my first android phone, but last night i successfully rooted my thunderbolt thanks to cory for his amazing detailed step by step procedure in the sticky

what i am asking for help is,
what apps for rooted phones do i need or must have, given that i can google this but, i want to ask the rooted TB community,

in short, i rooted my TB to make it faster by removing bloat apps :D, now i want to make it eeeeeeven faster through the use of recommended ROMs, and what necessary apps do i need, such as Titanium backup, etc etc...

I rooted over the weekend as well. I flashed bamf already and liking it so far. UI is slick, fast and responsive. Flashed mr2 radio, 4g locked on like a bolt, it's awesome. As far as apps, so far I can only say Rom Manager and TiB.

UI?? i'm not understanding the lingo here ahahah, excuse my ignorance, can someone go into detail, i was intrigued by fast and responsive

As for ROMS I recommend to Download das bamf 3.0 rc4 then let ROM load up then boot in recovery then flash the mr2 radio

ROM manager, Wireless Tether, Screen Shot, Set CPU, just to name a few, sure others will chime in!!!
I notice alot of people say to use Rom Manager. Why is that? I haven't really seen a need for it so I uninstalled it. I do everything in ClockWorkMod anyways. Safer to flash without Rom Manager from what I read as well. Is it more of just a shortcut to CWM than anything else. Many of the other features it has other apps on my phone do too. I don't get it.

SetCPU is really good as well but I also recently uninstalled it after realizing that I can Overclock/Underclock and change voltages and many other tweaks using the toolkit and Terminal Emulator that come with Remix 2.1. and the latest dream kernal running Script Rapist.

This is what I'm running...

First and foremost: Superuser
Then in random order:
ROM Manager
ShootMe
Root Explorer
Titanium Backup

Have not loaded it or tested it yet, but will shortly, I'd have to include Wireless Tether.

Astro file manager
My backup root (for backing up text messages)
ROM manager
Super manager
Titanium backup

I feel like this is part of a James Bond film when Q introduce James to the newest gadgets.

ahaha agreed, i'm just as lost but i'm trying to find more on these "recommended apps" through reviews, so far most seem legit and worth the money,
