New to tablets, want xoom but should I wait for xoom 2?

Middle name "Optimus"?

Well, props to ASUS for beating all others to market with Kal-El. And, by quite a long time at that.

I wonder why Moto didn't go with the Tegra 3? Seems like they been making a lot of missteps of late.

Will there be a G4/LTE version, or still just WiFi? That's a big consideration for my needs. I suppose I could carry around an LTE hotspot box, but I'd rather not have to.

Maybe Samsung will have Tegra 3 LTE Tabs out soon. if Moto is going to stick with dual-core, I don't see how the Xoom 2 can compete effectively. Especially topping out at just 16 GB.

Not sure about a LTE version as i just tether from my phone. I don't see the point in another contract. The xoom can't compete.

I don't think Moto is trying to compete with other Android tablets as much as they are going for the iPad directly. The Transformer Prime DOES have 4 cores, but it's the first of its kind and I'm sure quad core still won't deter apple fanboys...

Idk about that. It would be awefully stupid of Motorola to do that. You can't take market share from one competitor while ignoring your main competition. The Transformer has sold very well, and beating everyone else to market with the Tegra 3 will work well for them

Wait for the Xoom 2. Android devices have a shorter lifespan for OS updates, and because of this i suggest pricing the device like a one generation older Apple device, ie ipad 1. Now, if you're the type that always has the best and greatest, then this doesn't apply to you.

Wow, after reading that article about the Xoom 2, I don't know what Motorola is thinking. That things going to be obsolete by 6 months by the time it even hits the shelves. Do yourself a favor and get the Transformer Prime, you'll be much better off. Asus has already announced that ICS will be along very soon for the origianl Transformer, so I'm sure the Prime will have it quickly too
