New to the Edge and a question

Just got my phone Saturday on Rogers in Canada. Loving it. One weird thing though. For some reason "vibrate" for email is greyed out and I can't select it. The only email I have set up is hotmail in the mail app and gmail in the gmail mail app. Odd that this would be the case. Am I missing something to allow the phone to vibrate when receiving a notification? I don't care so much when I have my ringer on, but when at work and actually in vibrate mode you'd think emails would vibrate. But no. And it won't allow me to change it.
What did I miss?

Try a 3rd party app from the play store and see if you have that option when you set up your email account. Ditch the mail app and try that. See what happens.
