New to the world of Droid!

Greetings to All!

I'm new to the world of Droids! (HTC Droid Incredible) and really like the phone. While I'm searching the site, there are a few things I would like to change.

1) wallpaper - Ive seen in another thread where owners have posted what their screens look like and I would like to join the crowd!!! However, not sure what I need to accomplish this task

2) ringtone - nothing outrageous, but look to replace some of the hideous tones that came with the phone. Again, not sure what is needed or how to accomplish this task

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, vac357.
First off... Welcome to Android Central.

I believe you're talking about rooting. That's a process that allows you to modify your device.

You can also customize your phone without rooting it. For example - Ringtones can be downloaded to the phone. You can also change your wallpaper to the one of your choice. I'm not rooted and I'm loving everything about my phone.

However, if you feel you need to know more about rooting your phone. You can start by reading this. Helpful Tip.

Wallpaper and Ringtones are easy to do. Get Ringdroid, it allows you to take any mp3 on your phone and allows you to make your own ringtone. Wallpaper, google.com/images is a good place to search for good pics to use as a background.

Regarding the Wallpaper, I inserted the SD card in my card reader then copied files from my server Worked like a charm!

Will also have a look at Ringdroid as well.

Have already used Skyraider and Incredible Re-Engineered (current) roms. Have also added several diff apps & widgets as well! Really like Re-Engineered Been busy configuring the phone to my liking, I haven't spent time changing/modifying ringtones.

Would post screen shot, but don't know how (have to read How-to). Since my younger brother use to be a graphic artist, he reminded me of a well known artist that was simply WICKED in the day. Found some really nice wallpaper to use

Gonna modify ringtone via Ringdroid this eve...

Welcome to AC... as far as the look of your screen goes. A lot is done through different Widgets or from rooting the phone. If you see a screen you like in one of the threads, just ask the member what they used. The members are very friendly here and will be glad to tell you what they did to customize their phone.... enjoy the forums.
