New update

Oh and that it will require a full wipe. She strongly drilled to me that I should backup my things.

Didn't HTC say that only the sensation, EVO 3d, and Flyer tablet were getting Sense 3? I think we may see an MR2 soon that may include GB but I would expect 2.3.3 with Sense 2.1. I would be floored of we have 2.3.4 and Sense 3.0.

Just my 2 cents

Did she mention what wold happen if you did? I manually installed MR2 and my reboots have gone away. Since MR2 was canceled, I'm not exactly sure what will happen when the actual update is pushed OTA.....meaning will it be pushed to me or will I be hung out and unable to receive it. I did grab and save the MR1 zip, so perhaps worst case, I can downgrade to that and get the new OTA pushed to me that way? Only time will tell I guess.

Dont worry you will still get the update. It may not have been pushed but it is still an official (meaning signed with release keys) update.

For some reason I haven't had a reboot in a week. Prior to that I was rebooting approximately daily. Makes me wonder whether they're tinkering with the LTE network to help with stability from that side. But I'm not very tech-informed, so not sure whether that even makes sense.

HTC told Phil that only the Sensation and devices launched after that will have Sense 3.0 and that older devices will NOT be updated.

I'm in the same boat *knock on wood* 106+ hours of up-time...no LTE here though...

And if you want question my credibility, don't bother. I wouldn't waste my time and make up something up.

It's not a question of YOU making stuff up...

You weren't around much for the launch of this fine piece of equipment, were you? :p

And an OTA will not factory reset your device. The MR2 only did it because we did a complete override rather than installing over the firmware.

+1. That is what I thought, that an OTA will not factory reset the device.

Haha you are correct. I was a little cranky when I write that. Lack of sleep can do some weird things.

People are confusing OTA's and RUU's. OTA's are files that patch or replace existing files in an OS to make them the newest versions. RUU's (ROM Update Utility) are the complete ROM. They wipe the device completely and write a stock ROM to the memory. What we all got was an RUU. People get them confused because we installed it the same way as a manual install OTA. Verizon would never push an RUU. They are meant for internal use only for testing devices and wiping returned devices. If the rep actually told the OP that the update would wipe the device (factory data reset) then that further destroys her credibility.

Are some of you still getting reboots with the MR2 update on here? It fixed all my issues and works great now and im running the MR2 since it came out here both rooted and unrooted

My TBolt is unrooted so I can use the unrooted Tethering programs out there. My question is
A) Should I do the update over the root
B ) Unroot upgrade to the newest firmware, then re root
C) or ??

So far so good for me. The only app that I lost access to is MLB AT BAT 2011 (paid) It says I'm not supported now, probably due to the leaked MR2 RUU not being totally official.

It still goes through some periods of not having 3G or 4G when you know you are in an area that has it, and the airplane mode trick fixes it. Hopefully the newest MR2 will fix that better.

+1. The only likely truth to the whole story was the update coming soon. The rest is false or simply unverified.

Well regardless... That's what she said...

I'm sure she did. Which is why you can never believe what Verizon reps say ---- BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW SQUAT. Face it, they are at the bottom of the totem pole. They are on a need-to-know basis. Verizon is not going to give out sensitive company info to a bunch of low-end blabber mouths.

I get one about once a day, and then I had 107+ hrs (4.5 days) of up-time and then had another reboot for some reason. It's not "fixed per se but it is a HUGE improvement and the device is actually usable again.
