New Verizon G4 Update

It appears to have fixed the bluetooth battery drain issue for me, where inactive bluetooth was eating up 3% per hour for the last few weeks.

I got the update tonight. I use the stock email app and really liked it but now there are no boxes next to each email I can tick to delete certain ones without opening the email, hate this.

Also I use dolphin browser instead of chrome and it's messed up. I can no longer go to aol.com, google.com and yahoo.com. says page can't be displayed. Can get to these forums and my other sites just not those search engine sites. Also when I type something in the search bar to search get page can't be displayed so I can't use search engines or search for anything using dolphin browser. Oddly enough this is only going on with Wi-Fi. If I turn Wi-Fi off and go to 4G it all works fine. Any one have a clue how to fix this? It's very annoying as dolphin is my preferred browser and worked fine before the update. I uninstalled and reinstalled and that didn't fix it. Mary

A fix for the annoying Voicemate that self activates when my aux cable's plugged in would be awesome as well.

Have to be really careful or put it in airplane mode to listen to music.

Lost the Mic button on the stock keyboard. It shows on the keyboard customization screen as default, with the option to replace it with the handwriting icon, the settings icon, or the clipboard icon, but the default in fact appears to be the handwriting tool, and I can't find the Mic anywhere, nor can I figure out a way to add it. Apart from that issue, I'm digging the update - so far.

if you can avoid installing this, avoid it. now it keeps crashing google play whenever i open a game. just can't play games now.... how do i roll back? is there a way to?

My mic is there on the stock keyboard. I can long hold an email and the boxes show. Maybe it was like that before and I forgot.

I had to install an older version of dolphin and now it's working ok except I can't figure out how to put pages in desktop view. Mary

So far, my G4 seems improved in every way. In particular, I'm not experiencing the hiccups on the keyboard (I use Swift Key) I was before. However, I've come to believe that every software update needs a "teething period" of a few weeks, to really get a feel for the effectiveness of it.

I stand corrected. I had it check for an update again and now there's one available. Odd.

While on wifi when I disable jetpack on Dolphin I can access google.com, aol.com, and yahoo.com. When I enable jetpack, I can't access those sites.

In the stock email app the menu has a "select" option that brings the boxes back, but then all you can do is select multiple messages. I liked it better before.

On the plus side, yes, notification volume is now separate from ring volume. Finally!

Bingo!! Who the heck thought this was a good idea? I'm pretty miffed about this, my phone is my work portal, before I could just open the app, tick off the boxes for deleting and bang...goodbye.

As far as I can tell, you can either swipe it away (which is maddening having to do this for each email) or long press on an email and the boxes come up.

Come on Android/Verizon...don't mess with something that works, I don't understand the rational behind this move.

One thing to keep in mind is it is always a god idea to do a hard reset/factory data reset after a major OS upgrade AND give your phone a few days to settle in. Doing so will usually prevent you from having any issues following the update. That said... doing a FDR/HR WILL wipe your phone clean so you should always do a backup first and be prepared for several hours of retweaking and setting things up the way you had them before.

Thank you thank you that solved it. I had done a factory reset and that didn't help. All is good in my world now. Mary

I wouldn't consider this a major OS upgrade. This is just a security upgrade and a few bug fixes. A major OS upgrade would be going from 5.1 to a higher OS number.

Press and hold for a second the emails you want to delete, and you can select as many as you want

Not able to sync email on wifi anymore. Have to turn off wifi to retrieve emails. Reminds me of the problem
I had with my G3 until they finally fixed it.
