New Virgin phone, Motorola Triumph | JULY19 | $300

No where did i say this was the best phone on the planet, but you seem to like to put words in peoples mouths,a lot of the bad thinking about this phone comes from the fact their no custom roms available for it,and the cheapo s may no be able to hotspot it get home internet, but like i said i will wait for the reviews.

It's not high end phone you are right, and you need to stop insulting people who don't share in your opinion.

Everytime somebody posts something negative about the Triumph I know you will be along to respond.
EVERY-SINGLE-TIME. And your wrong about the bad thinking of this phone isnt from the lack of custom roms available...it is because people want Moto to be honest and say its just a branded phone. Plus there are people that know Moto's track record as of late with android devices. Name me one android device made by Moto that hasnt had some sort of controversy since the OG Droid.

Now to address you calling people cheapos...really?
You are using the cheapest prepaid carrier out and your going to call people cheapos?

I use the hotspot in my vehicle once in a while. If you do your research on my posts you will see where I have in the past warned people against using the hotspot feature as their home internet. So that passive aggressive insult just falls flat on YOUR face.

Regarding me insulting people...Ive said it time and time again I respond to people how they appear to be responding or communicating. Your post and your other fanboi's was passive-aggressive to Leslie and other posters. Your trying to skirt the line of being a troll and also not really insulting. Just say what you gotta say and be done with it.

Basically, Motorola doesn't have much going for them right now, and I doubt they would be so willing to risk making it even worse by letting the Triumph turn up as garbage after being so highly anticipated by so many different types of people.

. Personally, I wouldn't put my name on something and pass it off as mine if I hadn't made sure it wasn't garbage. I would hope Motorola shares that thought process, but maybe I'm just being optimistic.

Very well thought out post.
The exerts I pulled just make me think, have you not seen Motorola's recent line-up?
But then you mention the most recent phone. Again tho I stop and ask, did he or she ever really pay attention to the drama created by most of Moto's recent phones?

I loved my DX and I tried every way I could think of to get it on VM's network because I didnt want to let it go. But since buying the Optimus, I have realized how much my phone was held back by the locked bootloader. I have friends and family that have the DX, Thunderbolt, and Dinc 2 and they are amazed at how this 150 dollar phone performs with their "high-end" phones.

I decided a while back I would not own another Moto phone, this being the only exception if it turns out decent. Im not holding my breath but I do anticipate the release and initial reviews from real users and not some magazine that gets kick back from the carrier and Moto.

A friendly debate on a open fourm does not justify your one way of thinking, never have a called someone out like you but this is what happens when a 20 year old still going through puberty know it all like yourself, who thinks this forum revolves around them,is given any little reason to look down on other members, and you did not insult me you insulted the user in the other post,2 different opinions does not make someone a troll, you really need to grow up,and come to the facts that everyone has their own opinions on things and debating their opinions are what forums are for,not firing no it all BS like you do.

Jesus Christ everyone, calm the hell down! You guys are fighting about a cell phone. One that's not even released yet. Really? Everyone just needs to take a step back, smoke a blunt, and calm down. God damn!

Geezus run on sentence... Just because you used a dozen comma's doesnt make the sentence proper. At some point you have to end the thing And start a new one. It reads like a huge wall of text that truly is hard to comprehend.

Im not a 20 something know it all. I admit when Im wrong about things. I have done it here a couple times. I have apologized to people when I made a mistake and confused them with another poster. Im not above admitting when Im wrong. A friendly debate was and still is going on among the other users. However I do call people out for things like your and bjones have been doing, which is fanboi responses to every negative or not praising the new phone.

If you really want to talk about the phone and discuss the pros and cons then please by all means do so. But use your own words in replying to people, not everybody will agree with you or think the same way as you. Your post in response to Lelieann was condescending and truthfully rude. She gave HER observation of the devices she had a chance to tinker with. And based her opinion on the facts presented so far. You made a big assumption that she was saying the triumph would be junk just because the other phones were junk.

Now that we are completely off topic, you and I should agree to disagree and continue to discuss the phone. Seeing as how there isnt much new info, Im kinda done with the topic. Until somebody posts something like the poster above did. Ill sit back and await your response that is mashed in with a dozen comma's and reads like a four page run on sentence.

I am not here to argue, but i have been on plenty of forums where your words are used by kids, who know when they cannot gang up on someone they start to attack their grammar, what does the way someone types have to do with the discussion at hand,.i am sorry to offend you,i did not know there where rules on the way you type or phrase things here, you need worry more about yourself and not other users, words grammar or opinions, Moderates do this, and i to will wait till the phone is released,to continue the debate.

Does anyone know for sure if the Triumph has hotspot capability with an app like Quick Settings?

If this phone doesn't use infrastructure hotspot (not ad-hoc) then its useless to me for tethering with my Asus Transformer tablet.

Guaranteed that the Triumph won't have built-in hotspot. They learned their mistake with Optimus. Free hotspoting is one of the "few" things that angers carriers the most. That and rooting, custom roms, changing your PRL, removing their branding and bloatware, removing their ad tracking software, using your data plan at all, and having the nerve to bring a billing mistake to their attention.

No it dosn't it was shown in a earlier post from the VM twitter feed that that Virgin Mobile dose not support hotspots. I forgot what page it was on but its somewhere in this thread.

I know what VM's 'official' stance is regarding hotspots. I was hoping someone might have tried getting hotspot to work with the Huawei version of this phone.

I realize that VM will probably lock the function out, but one can still hope there will eventually be a method that will allow the Triumph to tether with my tablet.

If you can install custom roms, you'll have hotspot capabilities. It is a software restriction, not hardware.

Dude don't bring me into this argument. I'd rather just sit back and ignore you. So so sorry that I'm excited to buy this new phone, and sorry that MY opinion is that its high end for vmu. If you don't like my posts then ignore them and respond with something about the phone, not the users. This isn't a thread for random thoughts, its a thread for the moto triumph. That's what every post needs to be about.

How about everyone stops arguing and starts acting their own age. This is a discussion about a cell phone for a prepaid company. It doesn't matter who was right, who was wrong, or who's a buttmunch. The fact that you are actually having an argument makes ALL of you look stupid. I'm sure that all of you are capable of having an intelligent discussion without arguing about who is the biggest "dummyhead" of the bunch. Lets keep this civil. You don't have to make up and you don't have to make an awkward public apology. All you have to do is stop arguing. Arguing wont change anyone's opinion of anything. All it does is cause more arguing. Let's just calm down and agree to disagree.

This phone has Motorola's name and logo on it, so if this phone is the utter poop I'm assuming the Huawei phones you tried were, Motorola will be the one taking the blame. What can Motorola say if the Triumph ends up right next to the Intercept? "It's not our fault! We rebranded a cheap Chinese phone to save money!" Obviously, if this phone turns up a flop, Motorola will take one gigantic blow to their reputation no matter what they say.

Motorola has been stuck outside the low end for a while, and most companies will sell their soul for a buck. I don't put Motorola above it.

I agree, that price is just something BB stuck in there. I don;t count on it.

Well said, Lanzeelus. :)
I thought AC was supposed to be a nice, civil community!

Well, its as civil as any "community" can be, considering the complete anonymity and zero responsibility for anything said. Actually, given those things, I think most of the time its quite civil.

And regarding the triumph, I pre-ordered it, I'm really looking forward to it, I came from a bigger android phone to the optimus and I've been wanting to go back to a 4+ inch phone. Too bad its not the 4.7 inch phone HTC is coming out with :)

Well I would hope Motorola has one or two smart people behind its decisions. If so, then Motorola should know how bad of a position they're in right now. I would think Motorola knows how it is to screw up big time by now. Maybe this is why I don't work in business (well I don't work at all yet, but that's not my point), but I would assume if you're going to rebrand something, you would make sure what you're rebranding is actually worth something. Personally, I wouldn't sell my soul for a cup of change. I would expect a little more for it, like a bag of quality marshmallows or something.

But I've been throwing around mostly sensual proof rather than actual proof. Let's take a look at what we have of the phone so far. At the moment, we have a ton of hands ons from several different sources. I haven't read them all, but I haven't seem anyone complain about build quality so far. And yes, most places have had the ability to actually hold the phone too. As for the quality of the performance, there's not that much Huawei could have screwed up here. This is stock Android (aside from a little bloatware) with the same processor that is in the HTC Thunderbolt. Many places have taken note that the Triumph ran smoothly while even the Photon lagged. To me, that sounds promising. But that's also what reviews are for. Places like phonedog tend to get their review units before they are for sale so if you buy the Triumph blind only you are to blame.

I understand being wary of the device. It does seem too good to be true. But then again, I'm sure a mid range Android phone that performed well sounded unbelievable at some point, and just look at our little miracle phone the Optimus.
