Sorry I can't offer a sweet link to this info but its kind of a family leak. Its not sure but a rumor to also have a $10 line premium required so $35 minimum monthly.

I will call this information garbage until I see proof. VM isn't stingy or greedy. They've helped me out a lot when I've needed it.

Looks like a solid mid range phone, yes rooting is possible if the bootloader is locked, but don't expect the same customization as the Opt. V had, but having an unlocked bootloader would be a huge thing, IF and only IF developers jump on the wagon as well. Overall its a good looking phone and offers a lot for a prepaid carrier. Until then my LG Optimus V is still the lil virgin mobile champion in my book

VM would be losing a huge range of customers by requiring a $35 premium for this thing, especially those who have Virgin especially for the $25 bucks a month like me. I could understand the phone itself being over $300, but the higher plan pricing would definitely turn me away.

The $10 extra a month is supposedly coming from sprint taxing VM nothing has been said as to how VM will recoup this loss but in most cases its transferred to the end user. This phone was in the works before the LG Optimus V was released and if we remember the sales were so fast that their network suffered and they had to scramble to fix the many issues that were hashed out from the extra load. Before the OV released this phone was gonna release for $249 and go up to $299.

On wikipedia, the MSM8655 lists a adreno 205 GPU, which is the next generation version of what our LG Optimus V has

Why would Virgin Mobile do that? Doesn't Blackberry do that because of RIM's Blackberry messenger service and market store?

I have no problem believing there will be a high price for the physical phone, but it doesn't make any sense on why they would add the extra $10. At least with the Black Berry you get extra features for the $10, makes more sense to up the $25 plan to $35 but add a decent amount more minutes.

Almost every carrier seems to add a surcharge to Blackberry devices. I don't think it will be the case for Motorola Triumph on Virgin Mobile.

The $10 fee Sprint is placing on VM is for all the phones that Sprint deems premium service devices.This seems to be on all phones 1ghz and higher. The Optimus and the Intercept will be the only android phones not to get this fee. This is not of VMs choosing but Sprint. VM has not made any statements about charging this fee too the end user but I cant see them just paying it and taking the loss.

From what I understand the $10 surcharge on Sprint is for the 4g. If I am wrong please correct me. If this the case I don't a reason for VM to charge an extra for the Triumph.

Yeah, I don't see why a 1ghz processor would make it a premium service phone. one its only a processor, VM doesn't offer 4g, and also throttle usage. Triumph and OV aren't any different when you don't truly have unlimited data. If there is a tax it was because of the OV hogging the network, this won't happen with a $350 phone.

And now Sprint is charging the $10 fee for all smart phones, not just 4g capable handsets. I still have to laugh all my friends buying a 4g phone in Louisiana. Sprint has no 4g service anywhere in Louisiana, Verizon only has 4g in and around New Orleans,.

I call BS.

The $10 charge on Blackberry is a fee Virgin is charged by Blackberry, NOT Sprint.
Data is data, doesn't matter on processor speed or the pipe, 5 gigs is 5 gigs.

They could however charge for 4g, Virgin did send out a questionnaire asking if people were willing to pay extra for it. Problem, is, I found some more info on this phone, it's NOT 4G.


As for $350 price tag.
HIGHLY skeptical. Prepaid phones may be the future and Virgin/Sprint may experiment with more expensive phones for it, but this isn't a small jump. Face it, Virgin customers are cheap, Vorgin knows this. $350 for a phone is quite hard to sell.

There are a lot of hands-on previews, most seem to be positive except the one from pcmag.com, which stated that the phone's "touch screen that felt a bit sluggish, despite its 1-GHz processor."

I really hope they don't add on that $10 fee, that would seriously be a bummer...
