New VOIP option for GV - single app solution: GrooVe IP

It's out, lol.

If you are on a Optimus V, enable "Outgoing Audio Processing" in the Troubleshooting section. I have not tested the "Incoming Audio Processing", as I have never had a problem with hearing the other party. Just with them hearing me (which is what the "Outoging Audio Processing" is supposed to help with).

Edit: 100 replies in this topic :)

Incoming is for incoming calls not incoming voice. Sorry I'm terrible at naming things.

Can anyone suggest an "ECHO test service" (like Skype's Echo123) to be able to assess voice quality at the other end, instead of having to call friends and relatives?

I finally found one after a little googling.

Don't have to thank me. It's in my own best interest...If I didn't listen to you guys I'd have a sucky app that no one used :)

You know some devs listen and still have sucky apps that nobody uses.
Difference is you apply the suggestions :D.

On Optimus V, I enabled both incoming and outgoing audio processing fix on most recent update.
Now, for incoming calls, the other party hears me fine.
Unfortunately, for outgoing calls, the other party still cannot hear me.

Did you ever have the audio routing hack turned on (it should be off)? If you try restarting the phone and see if that fixes it. Also is it that they can't hear you or that your voice is choppy?

Audio routing hack has been off for this update; I did have it on in v12, but I've restarted the phone multiple times, and even wiped cache and dalvik cache.
The other party finds my voice is choppy, intermittently clear, then broken up and with static. This only seems now to be on outgoing calls.

What rom are you using?

Same Rom with the same issue. The quality pre to post update is the same for me. Not usable as-is.

Good in theory and for those it works for. I will say, the call lag is less than GV + SIP + GV Callback.

Have you also tried the two audio processing checkboxes?

Since it's a different rom it may be using different audio drivers. If just the audio processing checkboxes don't work then I'd try also enabling the audio mode checkbox to see if that works. If not, try only the audio processing checkboxes with the audio routing enabled. If that still doesn't work then try the processing checkboxes with both mode and routing.

With any of these combinations, on AOSP Gingerbread ROM on Optimus V, I still can't get the audio for the receiving party to sound crisp and clear on outgoing calls.

I've had the same issue as well with Sipdroid and the pbxes.org Google Voice peering trunk, but in that case the receiving party had poor sound for both incoming and outgoing calls.
