New VOIP option for GV - single app solution: GrooVe IP

With any of these combinations, on AOSP Gingerbread ROM on Optimus V, I still can't get the audio for the receiving party to sound crisp and clear on outgoing calls.

I've had the same issue as well with Sipdroid and the pbxes.org Google Voice peering trunk, but in that case the receiving party had poor sound for both incoming and outgoing calls.

Alright, well there are a few new api's introduced with Gingerbread. I'll dig into those. Also will see if I can figure out what make incoming work better than outgoing.

This app is driving me nuts. Sometimes it seems fine, other times the person stops being able to hear/understand me, yet I hear them fine. Ive tried various settings in the Troubleshooting settings, yet I keep hitting this snag. I think I will have it fixed, yet to only hit the bug again later on.

Other Optimus V users, are you getting the same thing, even with the newest update?
I have both audio processing boxes checked, wifi keep alive enabled, and keep screen on.

Yes, exactly. Other party cannot consistently understand me when I initiate the call.
With latest update, and both audio processing boxes checked, other party now has acceptable voice quality only during incoming calls.

Ive also toyed with "Audio Routing" and the combination of "Audio Processing". I just can't get a handle on it. I need this app to be reliable.

Sadly radioshack refused to sell me an Optimus without contract. Still trying to buy one. Few questions:
Is it everyone having these problems? Or certain roms?
Are incoming calls fine?
Is it every outgoing call that you have a problem with? Or only some percentage? What percentage would you think?
Does it happen at the start of the call or in the middle?
Once it happens does the call ever recover?

The better we can classify it the easier it'll be to fix. I thought from the testing that the problem was resolved...my hope is that it's at least fixed for most and maybe it's just certain roms.

Happens for me on incoming/outgoing. It never recovers. I am on a 2.2.1 rom. It never happens at the beginning of a call. It usually happens a few minutes in. It is not every call. I have had calls were it was perfect for the duration of the call.

For the calls that become bad, is there anything that happens that seems to trigger it? Like does the call timer reset? Or does some event happen on your phone that might normally cause a tone to play? Receive a text, email or something like that.

There is no contract on the Optimus V period, they must have been trying to sell you a different one, maybe the Optimus S (Sprint).

I've been testing daily, with at least one phone call each day. Each time, the call starts, and I can hear the other person perfectly. Within about 10-15 seconds, they start hearing my voice extremely choppy, so much so that they can't understand me. My sister describes it as the first syllable being echoed over and over, only not an echo (gotta love her descriptions ;) ). I can always hear the party I'm calling fine, crystal clear.

I have tested most of the settings I believe, though I haven't made a checklist so I may have missed the perfect setup along the way.

If you like, I could call you so you can hear the issue.

I just tested 3-calls over wifi with the echo number.

The first two calls went past 5-minutes. I consider that a success and hung up. The 3rd call started messing up within the first minute. That's how random it is. 2 calls fine, the other a total loss.

snrb_labs, I feel for you--sounds like a doozy of a troubleshooting job on this one. There's just so many variables.

The fragmentation of android at its best. Each phone is so different. And it seems like each rom also behaves different. Other scary part is that I know it works well on many phones, have to be really careful that I don't make things worse for those trying to make it better for others. Anyway, we're going to keep trying, should be able to figure this out.

I'm not particularly married to the AOSP CM7 ROM, although it's been generally stable and responsive.

Do you know of any ROMs on the Optimus V where GrooveIP now works well for all calls?

I'll email the people who were helping us test.

Is there anyone on the forum having success with the app who can post their settings and rom?

I've only tested out going calls. So far so good on nameless rom.

Tested it on Wifi on Nameless rom 2.2. Few calls went fine but haven't tested further.

Just bought a LG Optimus T. Hopefully that's equivalent to what you guys have. Will start playing around with it this weekend.
