New VOIP option for GV - single app solution: GrooVe IP

Just noticed this thread this morning. It is in the Optimus forum. Is there a reason it's here?
I have the HTC Inspire 4G; is any of the issues discussed here unique to Optimus?

Is this app for all versions of Android phones?

The app is for any Android phone or tablet. I believe this issue we've been chasing is unique to the Optimus. I haven't received any feedback from people with other phones saying that they have this issue. I know the Evo had a similar issue for incoming calls, but the "Incoming Audio Processing" checkbox fixed the issue for the Evo.

I do have another thread in the Applications forum.

The thread was initially started because of the cheap phone plan available for the Virgin Mobile people. This makes using the 25 dollar a month plan even more appealing to people. Also there is several threads regarding the different VOIP options and mmarz was trying to not get a mix mash going like the one I had started.

As the Dev has said most of the problems have been focused with the Optimus V.

My experience has been similar to Takenover's. Calls are ok initially and then sometimes they get disrupted and one party cannot hear the other. I am on a optimus V with the Harmonia mod but have had the same issues on stock.

I sent the dev some logs. Hopefully they can find the root of the problem.

Thanks to the people who sent us logs I think we found the problem. It's a little odd, in the thread that reads from the mic, the os stops waking it up every 20ms and instead only wakes it up every 200 ms. So you keep talking and our thread that's supposed to send out your voice keeps getting backed up. Working on some potential solutions.

Version 1.1.0

- Fix an issue that was causing choppy voice in the middle of calls on certain phones (LG Optimus)
- Add an autostart option for the app to start when the phone starts
- Add ability to turn off the notification icon

can someone confirm that with the new update this app works great on the optimus v now? I want to buy it but ive been waiting. Thanks

I can confirm. I helped test it before it went public. I made ten 5-min calls and not one of them had the bug/error. But if you are unsure. Wait for a few more reports.

Edit: Love the new options.

takenover can you tell me exactly which settings i should have set on groove ip and google voice account to get this working correctly? I'd appreciate that.

Is the app updated in the market? it says last updated May 5th. Thanks to the devs and testers for the quick fixes.

You must be using the Amazon App Store. It's slow for updates from my understanding. The latest version is available on the Android Market right now.

I have the latest version which is 1.1.0 and have checked only the screen always on option in troubleshooting. I am on the nameless rom and I am still having the audio issues. It is the same mic stuttering issue. I confirmed it by calling 909-390-0003 and listening to my own voice. Incoming calls have so far not caused any issues.

Hmm. Nope, I'm looking at the android market and it says May 5th, version 1.1.0. I'll try it.

incoming not ringing

OK, I've been using this to both receive and make calls but all of a sudden incoming calls go straight to voicemail. I'm logged out of Google everywhere that I can think of. Any ideas?

um we don't have to be logged out of google on our phone do we? Bc I use that google account for my android market and contacts. That would suck.

Shouldn't have to. I know Google Voice is having some issues today. Guess lot of people are making calls cause of mother's day. The one you need to make sure you're logged out of is google chat.
