Hi Everyone
Has anyone tried out the new firmware I9300XXemc2?
Anyone who updates to this firmware please post the results, so it would help me in updating.
Lets hope samsung has solved the freezing issue in this firmware.

Is this 4.1.2? Or 4.2? Also where are you from?

Just looked on Internet and found some changes:
Apps launch faster
Less RAM usage
Phone/contacts apparently opens faster
Higher Quadrant score

I am also interested in anyone's experience with this firmware. Might be just what I've been waiting for.

Ive updated to it, and well I don't find any improvements

I haven't had any freezing or rebooting issues either.
The only thing you could say freezes is antutu benchmark, that sometimes stops working. Also i found benchmarks are worse

For now I dont care about benchmarks...I need the freezing issue solved asap :( :(
If that is solved.. I would be extremely relieved.

I'm just using the Modem XXEMC2... Not the firmware... Working fine....

I have installed the EMC2 firmware and for the last 13.5h there is no freezing. I will keep you guys updated with more news.
Does anyone have the changelog of this firmware?

Hi deep_s3,
The phone is freeze-free :) and I am not facing any issues of wifi connectivity.

All,
I got the EMC2 firmware yesterday. As from today, the freezes restarted - but in the conditions I always thought were worst: on the move while roaming. Freezes on lock screen as well as in an application. So the update was probably not meant to solve this.

I'll see what it does tomorrow under normal conditions. Sigh.

Hi dsmalle,
You are the first one who has the freezing issue after EMC2 update. Thats unfortunate :( .
Is the freezing due to same reasons before update or something else?

Hi jaithehulk and deep_s3,
I have been having the freeze problem in my S3 since last 2 weeks , started out of the blue! since i still have waranty i was planning to get it replaced. I just got the emc2 update(INDIA). I was having a freeze once in every half hour before the update. Will let you know if the freeze persists. Reading most post on all forums tells me the freeze issue should get fixed after this update. FINGERS CROSSED!

Same reasons. In the meantime I installed EMC3 but that was *exactly* the same as EMC2. Freezes on lockscreen AND applications.

But there might be light at the end of the tunnel: yesterday morning I removed Facebook entirely. Since then, no freezes. But it's too early to be sure.
The app made me suspicious because I tried stopping apps one by one through the applicions manager. This worked for all apps and in most cases freezing continued. However FB made me suspicious as it did start up its apps again even after stopping the app+services+cached info. I had no freezes while it was not there, after it restarted the freezes were back.

Now the auto restart of FB application(s) might be normal but I reasoned that the only way to be sure it didn't run was to uninstall. And since then, no freezes (even while moving & roaming).

If someone else can try this as well?
