Nexus 10 with Lollipop Performance? vs. Nexus 7 2013?

I've been getting into big tablets and I hate all of the touchwiz stuff along with every other version of stock so that cuts out just about every other tablet brand. I have a nexus 7 2013 that I am planning to sell for a nexus 10 because from what I've heard it still performs well and that's what I would really want. So I just made this forum to ask what you guys would say about the performance on android lollipop on the nexus 10; is it better than the 2nd gen nexus 7? Also, would it be worth getting the tablet (N10) 2-3 years after the release? Put down your thoughts and comments as they will vaguely help me out in the future.

From a spec perspective the N7 has the N10 beat for performance. On paper at least. With the progression of SOCs in tablets the dual core A 15 processor isn't anything special anymore.

At this point I would look at the Samsung Tab S line, or the N9. It isn't that anything is bad with the N10, it is just that it is 2 years old and showing it's age compared to newly released products. I am not going to upgrade though as my N10 does everything I need it to.

There is also the issue of you won't find it new from google now. That means you will have what ever issues come with age like a worn out battery that seems to be pretty difficult to replace.

I bought a new Nexus 7...2013 version in December, 2013 and it was my first tablet. I loved everything about it including the price. I had originally planned to buy an updated Nexus 10 but grew tired of waiting for them to release one .As we now know Google decided to replace the 10 with a Nexus 9. I am retired and my eyes arent what they used to be so as much as i enjoyed the 7 i decided to take a chance and buy a used Nexus 10. I am no technical guru so i cant compare specs etc, but I can say that for me the Nexus 10 has been a wonderful upgrade from the 7 based only on the larger size. If the 10 is "old technology" i cant see any evidence of it in my daily use. It seems to work as well as the 7 did for me and I just received the Lollipop update yesterday so im looking forward to getting use to it going forward. The used one i bought was in excellent condition and works perfectly. Since it is 2 years old i am worried about the battery life but that hasnt been a problem for me so far and i have seen on the internet that you can replace the battery for about $60. The battery life is definitely less than my 7 but i havent measured it i dont use my tablet extensively enough to care. If it werent for my eyes i might have bought a new 9 inch Nexus but for what i paid i was happy to get the 10. I know this isnt a technical review but i hope it helps you evaluate your options. I still have my 7 but havent been able to find a buyer even at $100 which surprises me. I know i couldnt go back to the 7 but if i wanted a small tablet i cant imagine any 7 inch tablet performing better than the Nexus.

But what I would like to add is that if you want to hold onto your tablet for a longer period of time, I would recommend staying with the Nexus 7 because it has one guaranteed update left before it is retired like the Nexus 10.

There are other reasons, but honestly buying a Nexus 10 isn't an extremely good decision at this point. It's not a bad tablet by any means and it'll work perfectly for another year with the Android 5.0 update and future bugfixes.

FWIW, as a retired senior citizen with equally aged eyes, I really don't see much difference between screens on the Nexus 9 and 10. And I'm near-sighted and tend to have the tablets close for use.

I could easily see the difference between a Nook HD+ at 254ppi and the Nexus 10 at 300ppi. And I worried about the Nexus 9 screen feeling like a downgrade after the Nexus 10, but it doesn't feel like that.

I love the aspect ratio of the 9 and the lighter weight is a boon. My Nexus 10 has been a pain about rebooting and freezing, I'm hoping Lollipop will fix that.
