Nexus 10 won't turn on.

Seem to have encountered the same issue today...

Nexus 10 would not turn on, so connected it to charger (original google charger plus cable, although I am not sure if it was the one which came with the Nexus 10 or the Nexus 1). Left it to charge for a couple of hours, but still refused to turn on when I came back to it.

If I pressed and held the power on button, the battery symbol with thunder bolt would show briefly, then disappear. No vibrate or other visual indicator. With no charger or computer connected, the screen remained blank.

I tried connecting to a computer, but behaviour was no different. Also, the computer showed no sign of recognising anything having been plugged in. Followed the various suggestions here, including the hold down 30s, the hold down with volume up+down, etc. No change.

Tried a different USB cable, no change.

Tried a higher capacity charger. No change. Then swapped to another slightly lower capacity charger after about 10 minutes. This time it sprang to life. Not sure if the second change of charger made a difference, or if I just hadn't waited long enough. But it finally powered up and showed 0% charge.

First time I have seen it be this reluctant to power up. The battery may have been flattened by my accidentally leaving the WiFi enabled, but I am sure I have done that before. It wasn't more than a week or two since I last turned it on.

Once it charges, I will go back to check if the original charger/cable seem to be working now.

Thanks for all of the earlier suggestions. I might not otherwise have persevered.

Recovering a "mostly dead" battery (one that has fallen below safety voltage but is recoverable) can take a very long time. Sometimes a couple of hours works - sometimes a couple of days. The best thing to do is absolutely nothing after plugging it in to a known-good charger. It just needs some alone time.

I also had the problem my N10 wouldn't boot. I'd like to share my journey with you all, hoping to be able help anyone else in the same situatuon.

Yesterday evening I turned my N10 off. I don’t have a magnetic cover so I pressed the power button and selected “Shut down”. I was certain the battery icon indicated it was 3/4 or more loaded.

When I tried today to turn my N10 back on, nothing happened. No light, no buzz, no nothing.
I took the charger, which I am using for more than a year now ( I have one with multiple usb-slots so I can charge more devices at once), and plugged it in. Nothing happened.
When I pressed the power button the loading icon appeared very faintly. It was all white with a charging bolt running through it. This made me think the tablet was fully loaded (which later on seemed to be false).

I started to do some research and followed the steps other people had tried with success.
I tried all of the following:
• Press the power button for 10 seconds
• Press the power button for 30 seconds
• Press the power button for 1 minute
• Plug the tablet into a working charger (I tried it on my phone to make sure it was working) and press the power button for 10 seconds / 30 seconds / 1 minute
• Plug the tablet into a turned on computer and press the power button for 10 seconds / 30 seconds / 1 minute
• Plug the tablet into a computer. Let it load for 10 to 15 minutes. Unplug the device and put it back in immediately. Then press the power button for 10 seconds / 30 seconds / 1 minute.
• While plugged in, press the volume down + volume up + power button all at once for at least 30 seconds to 1 minute until the reset screen appears.
All I got was the fully charged logo flashing on and off every 10 seconds or so. But no buzz, or something to indicate the device would want to boot.
I have my device for several years now so there was no change I could send it back under guarantee. I started freaking out, reading all the posts about how these things worked wonders for other users. Until I came along this post, saying that I should try the original charger that came with the device.

... essentially it said i should use the usb to ac adaptor which came with the tablet. ...

Thinking in myself “how can this make any difference”, I tried it anyway. And TADA, the N10 immediately buzzed and showed a very bright icon saying the battery was fully drained but now charging. I left it to charge for about an hour. When I came back to it, I pressed the power button for like 3 seconds and let go. And there was the buzz I was hoping for so badly. The google Icon appeared and the tabled booted up normally. The battery indicator said it was only 5% loaded so I left it to charge even more. The tablet works fine now.

So, thanks FragCJ for your post!
