Nexus 4 Purchase Tmobile vs. Google play

Actually its not. If you don't live in a reframed area you will more than likely get only Edge speed. There is a slight variation - the one T-Mobile sells has AWS bands whereas the on sold directly by Google does not.

So the H+ that lights up on my N4 purchased from Google Play and running on a T-Mo SIM is just an illusion? There is no refarming here where I live.

I just bought mine from the Play store and the experience was excellent. I didn't know it was going to be so easy.

Can you please tell me what size sim card I need to get from T-mobile---if that's the carrier you use? Thanks so much.

You need a micro sim card from T mobile. They tried to charge me $22 for one at the T Mobile factory store, and I created a ruckus, and they gave it to me for free. By the way the T mobile Nexus 4 and the Play store nexus 4 are the exact same phone. My H+ works perfectly on T mobile on my Play store phone.

It was confirmed at release that it was the same phone in every way on T-mobile and play store.

Only difference is T-mobile is price gouging on the device.

It's a 350 phone and they want 500 for it!

Making a profit <> gouging.

It requires a micro SIM. I got one for free at the at&t store. I was in and out in no time.

I was just in a T-Mobile store last week looking at the Nexus 4. I asked if a Nexus 4 bought from Google Play would work the same as a T-Mobile Nexus 4. He said that the Nexus bought from Google would only operate on 2G speed and not 4G like the one from T-Mobile. He said that any unlocked phone that works on GSM would only work at 2G speed. It sounds like salesman BS, but I have no idea. Thoughts?

It is total BS. Sounds like ignorance, or salemen lies. H+ is H+

Its like the sales rep at Sprint once told me that Sprint was the only carrier that had true LTE. They will say whatever to get you to sign a contract with them.

Yeah, crap like that is why I like to tell people the truth.

I'm at Verizon and I saw a coworker tell a customer that while we don't have the one, the "Droid DNA is the Verizon version with the same processor, a better camera, bigger screen, and everything else is the same"

That customer did a little research and asked him if he was sure about that, he did yes, positive. Customer walked away. I stopped them and asked why, he said "your cohort told a boldface lie to me, I'm not doing business with a liar"

I apologized and tried to get him back but he refused.

I even told him the real differences.

Unfortunately that happens a lot. I go into phone stores often and I hear some outrageous things from sales reps.

The closest TMobile store to me is 75 mi. away. We do have an AT&T store and I don't have any complaints with them. We only use AT&T for dsl. Maybe not having a store is actually good for some of us. I did some research on the web and mainly on this forum People on here have helped me in a number of ways and I really appreciate it. As I learn, I'll be sure to pay it forward, too.

I'm very fortunate to be on a number of different forums where everybody is very generous in helping others in a friendly and polite way. Of course the forums have moderators, but the cultures created really set the tone in a very beneficial way. I always encourage everyone to do customer reviews on Amazon also. That seems to be the place I go first to check out a product even though I don't always buy it there since they don't always have the best price.

I got started on my T-Mobile service today and am waiting for the sim cards. The person in their customer service was very polite, knowledgeable and helpful. The wait was about 5 minutes. I had tried to do everything online, but when I clicked the final button, I got a message saying they couldn't process my order. The rep didn't know why. It may have been that we had prepaid phones and didn't have an account number to fill in. He said to tell the operator to port our existing numbers when we activate our phones which he said is done by a live person. Just passing this stuff on FWIW.

When it's that large (43% markup over the price it sells for) yes, it's gouging.

Their expenses are higher too - nationwide TV and print ads, a network of physical stores coast to coast. Those aren't free.
