Nexus 4 TERRIBLE battery life

I got my Nexus 4 yesterday and so far I'm draining 1% of battery every 1-2 minutes. I only get up to 90 minutes of on-screen time (although my phone says otherwise...) I've disabled NFC and I'm on the lowest screen brightness. I've also disabled GPS and installed JuiceDefender. Last night I made the error of having it over charge for the night but I won't be doing that again. Help fixing?

From my experience:
1. Battery drain will be higher for a few days due to setup / syncing services / Google backup
2. BetterBatteryStats app will help identify problem apps.
3. JuiceDefender will confuse things for now - uninstall for the moment
4. Switch "Keep WiFi on during sleep" to always (WiFi advanced settings)
5. Battery charge improves over the first couple of weeks usage.
6. Don't worry about "overcharging" - I've always left my phones on charge overnight. It has never caused an issue. I don't however use the Daydreams feature while charging (possible heat concerns).
7. Auto brightness should be sufficient.
8. Consider your social media refreshes (Facebook, Twitter etc) - I have mine set for a couple of hours rather than 15 mins

As said, give it a couple of days to settle in and get a battery stat app to see if you have some poorly written apps that are sucking all your juice.

And you can NOT overcharge your battery. Battery technology (probably for the past 10 years) shuts off charging when the battery gets full. Were you thinking that everyone here gets up around 2AM to unplug their phones? There was some ridiculous thread here that mentioned something about this from a supposed call in to Google CS, but it's about as relevant as everything else that a CS person might tell you. Keep in mind this is the lowest position you can be hired for.

A big thank you to both of you. You guys were really helpful. This is a great first impression of the Android Central forums. I've done what you've told me and I'll see how it goes. I'll report back later if problems persist. :)

as I already posted somewhere on this forum, Ill do it here for you too

For me, Battery in N4 is big sh**.

I dont have anything synced, not even gmail, google now disabled, brightness on 15% maybe, and I get maybe 4 hours SOT on mobile data, and 5h on wifi.

Only thing that drains my battery is maybe whatsapp, and I go to facebook from time to time. When I am on whatsapp I can watch my battery percentage falling every minute or two.

I love Nexus 4 but cant wait for new nexus with higher capacity to come in the end of the year (I hope so).

In a matter of an hour the battery left prediction has already become better. Thanks again!

I support everything stated here as well.. Except maybe #7. I don't like autobrightness, I think it defaults too bright and uses power you don't need to. I prefer adjusting it myself on the go. Everything else C0deM0nkey said is spot on. And I'll add that if you are in a place with a weak signal it will chew through your battery very quickly. Airplane mode or a spare charger are your friends if you're going to be stuck in a poor signal area for a long period of time.

I'm getting about 1.5 days (36 hrs) on my battery.. have had my phone about 8-10 weeks now... wifi always on, live wallpaper with auto brightness, only update when on wifi (for data usage reasons), screen blank out at 2 minutes.. NFC on.. Bluetooth off until i need it... app refreshing every 30 minutes... seems to be holding a charge MUCH better than my SG2... 6 hours TOPS.. WITH a fresh battery... !?

How did you managed to do that? Are you running another kernel? Or just not that many apps on your Nexus4?

I get similar results with Franco kernel and nova launcher. These are my test results. Time to drain battery from 100% - 0%
Screen on - 8hrs
Tune in radio - 10hrs
WiFi - 18 days
Standby - 12 days (calculated based on % usage shown, haven't tried this)
Mail droid - 25hrs
Haven't tested my dolphin browser.

I check mail about 3-4 times an hour, listen music for 3 hrs and an hour browsing, get little more than a day in full charge. I run enhanced caller id and nexus touch control full time but never seen it in battery usage. I use automatic brightness and charge to full only when it gets down to less than 10%.

I have the same problem. Even when the phone is idle battery drains and today morning one minute after full charge, the status was 98%. And every 1 to 2 minutes battery keeps discharging. I have kept my phone at manual sync, NFC is off, auto brightness, WiFi off, 2g mobile data on... Not much apps in the phone.. Facebook and temple run 2. But I am using juice defender and task killer..this is the 2nd day after I bought the phone

Why are you moaning....? i get like 2-3hrs.. used to get 3hrs but now more like 2hrs. I have everything off except Whats app and that i get may be 5-6 messages aday!. Also dont do much calls and mainly read via wifi, but again max 3hrs SOT...! Compared to me, you are getting fantastic times.. :-)

My iphone 4 used tog et me 3-4 days on similar use. this phone gets me max 1.5 days.
