Nexus 5: About to order

No one takes into consideration that after paying full price 600-700 for a new phone on T-Mobile, at the end you don't even get half of what u paid to sell the phone? Wait, but u can trade it in with Jump? Even worse! All you paid was for nothing and now you have yet another bill for a full priced phone....not to mention, Jump is $120 a year! Well, maybe you don't want jump....hmmm so what will u do if u loose or break your phone? PAY full price for another one or buy smtn real cheap and/or used. Ppl don't realize that all these 'uncarrier' plans are all scams to making the consumer think they have control without contract, saving money, and have constant new devices with "$0" upfront.

Anyway, if I were you, I wouldn't chose any other phone over the Nexus 5..... Its an all around beast and you'll always be up to date with the latest OS version.

A scam? You do realize if you say take t-mobile 5gb option for $20 +$50 ($70) and say a new flagship the s5 ($24 a month) for a total of $95 a month before taxes vs AT&T and say 6gb plan which is $80 + $40 or if you get AT&T Next $80+ $25( for the smartphone added on) +$25 for the phone (choosing 18 months) for $130 a month... Now tell me what is cheaper. I am on t-mobile with unlimited data for $20 more (old simple choice plan) + jump (also insurance which I want for coverage for theft and lost primarily) +$25 for the phone for a total cost of $105 with unlimited 4g data. If you want unlimited 4g data you pay $10 more a month then what I am paying for and included is the phone charge plus jump which would be $115 compared to AT&T 6gb share plan with AT&T Next and no insurance for $130 a month. Please tell me where this scam is?

Its called insurance.. And 2nd if you pay full price, you don't need to jump.. You keep the phone. Just buy a new one... JUMP only requires half of the phone played. 0 down.. With good credit.. Lol helllooo..

Yes pls.
You guys see it one way, I see it my way compared to my current service. 5 lines, fully unlimited, $264 a month (including taxes & fees), dirt cheap NEW devices. How can 'UNCARRIER' beat that huh???

Because that works for you. You can't judge your situation for others as it may not be the same.

Example:

I upgrade yearly. So the contract new phone deal you do for 2 years won't work for me. I pay full price for my phones anyway.

Sprint service is awful for my area. I'm talking my dial up modem can pull more speed.

T-Mobile is fully unlimited as well.

When I bought my HTC One for 600 I sold it for 350 when I changed to the Note 3.. So I got more than half my money back for the phone.

Please remember everyone has different needs and means in life. One thing you may be able to afford might not be the same for the next guy. Some may be able to pay the payment plan on AT&T, T-Mobile, etc versus paying 200 upfront. It's all needs based and just because it doesn't fit your needs doesn't mean they are wrong.

Because you want to go out and call it a Scam which it isn't.... It might be cheaper for you but Looking at prices at face value + taxes with no discounts for some people T-mobile is a lot cheaper then Verizon or AT&T.

Don't you say you have wifi most places? As long as you ensure to use it you'll be okay.

I want unlimited data and AT&T doesn't offer it .... The only plans i would Consider would be the 4GB plan which would cut it close for me or the 6GB plan and honestly $120 + taxes gives me a lot less then what i get with T-mobile. I am paying $50 (unlimited Texting and calling) + $20 ( unlimited Data not throttled with 3GB or tethering ) + $10 Jump which is insurance which i want to cover for lost and theft ( Living in NYC i feel it is justified to pay for it just in case) + $25 a month for the phone ( it was considered an upgrade since i originally brought my own device. The device is usually Zero down and a higher payment per month ) for a total cost of $105 a month before taxes Which is cheaper then the only reasonable offer from AT&T which i would take the AT&T next option for which would make it $105 for the plan with 6GB + $25 a month for the phone costing me $130 a month

If you want AT&T service but get unlimited data but wouldnt mind throttled data i would suggest Aio wireless if they are in your area since they offer 5GB + an option to include 1GB of 4G LTE data and is unlimited as in they don't charge you if you go over.

I'm guessing that the activation used a lot of data. Cuz I haven't used hardly any data so far today since I've been out. Maybe I'll be alright

"Technically " Tmobile offers 4 lines for 100 unlimited till 1GB then slows down. But yeah 5 lines is the same price 260(unlimited all)

The only main difference is that at charges more for data.

I'm not saying its not potentially cheap specially when coming from this companies....but nevertheless, its a scam in disguise. A publicity ad that "looks good", though it might help a minority.

Looking at Single line plans T-mobile beats out AT&T and Verizon in a heartbeat. When i looked at Family plans ( where i was personally on before spitting off of one recently) The 2 plans where i would seriously suggest before you add on the Discount on AT&T. AT&T mobile share plan with no AT&T next with 4 phone, 3 Smartphone with insurance and 1 Basic phone with no insurance with 15GB of shared data would cost $294 per month. T-mobile with 3 Smartphones with Jump and 1 dumb phone with unlimited data would cost $303 dollars so while at face value T-mobile cost a bit more with EIP on the phones T-mobile will cost cheaper after 2 years when you pay the phones off. So While if you don't upgrade every 2 years T-mobile will be cheaper ($220 a month ) it is really based on your needs and desires but generally speaking T-mobile can be cheaper based on your needs of the family and depending on your discount with other carriers.

When you pay the phone off, who wants to keep a 2 year old phone????!
FYI I have Sprint.

Not everyone cares about the latest and greatest phones. My mother for example only upgraded this past month because she needed a bigger capacity phone (she bought the iPhone 4 8gb as her first smartphone when the s4 came out) but Tbh she probably can stick with the 5c for a good 3-4 years if the battery allows that. My father uses a basic flip phone. I upgrade annually so jump makes sense for me but there is plenty of people who don't care about 2 year upgrades

I'm going to switch to T-Mobile cuz I don't know if I can stay comfortable with the plan I'm on. I'd rather switch and get unlimited and not have to worry about how much data I use
