Nexus 5 at best buy.

Best buy matches prices in my area, thought this was a nationwide policy.

In my buddies case, he paid $349 out the door.

Essentially he bought it at the higher price and then called in asked to cancel his order, when the rep on the phone asked why he said it is less expensive on the Play store.

The agent put him on-hold and after a few minutes offered to match the price if he would reconsider.

He agreed as he wanted to use the BBY credit he had and fully expected BBY to match the price all along.

As a side note, BBY is annoying because they have so many rules which are applied unevenly and when they are applied Corporate leaves little room for common sense.

they didn't require me to put it on a sprint line. I walked in today, told them that a manager okayed the price match of 349, paid and walked out. Wham, bam, thank you officer!!!

Walked into Best Buy tonight, bought it off contract and at the Play Store price. Didn't even have to negotiate it. Was easier than most any phone purchase I've ever made.

On a slightly related note- If a store declines a full price sale, I'm fairly sure they are applying their own rule as I've known plenty of stores that allow this. They even post that very price next to the phone. Its always inflated but you can show a carriers price and they should match.

I don't have a display out for the Nexus 5 but we have had the phone in Stock since Thursday. Not sure when we will have a mock to put out for display.

mine said the same thing, but when i went in to order it, the lady said they had 2 in store!! imagine the look on my face. I was like a kid a christmas

I failed to get a play store price match at 5 different best buys. I ended up using my sprint upgrade with a amazon price match. Going to roam like I have no sense till they cancel my contract.

i think it always comes unlocked. the real question is - will they let you buy it without making you sign up for a new or renewal cell contract? and is that any carrier or just Sprint?

I was at one store that refused to let me do that even though I was trying to buy it outright. I explained over and over that I shouldn't have to activate it since I was buying it "WITHOUT A SERVICE PLAN" which is one of the options on their page. They then began to argue with me stating it wont work on any other carrier other than Sprint.

Going to try a different store today but I'm going to call ahead instead.

I don't understand why they didn't sell it to you. They are a business, how do they not sell a product they have to a customer willing to pay for it? Doesn't make sense to me.

Their claim was it was to stop re-sellers. I sat there in amazement as I told them I'm not a reseller I'm buying one device. And secondly what do you care? I'm paying full price for a phone your getting more money from me anyways.

I see I can buy it and do in-store pickup which means the device will be at the front customer service area. I'm so tempted to buy it from that store and then walk by the mobile area with saying "neener neener neener"

Only issue is I want to cancel with Google Play first and want to make sure the money will go right back to my card (as it's in the pending state).
