Yep, mine came in today also, same exact date. I was disappointed that it is a year old. Looks brand new. I ordered two, so who knows if that will ever show.

I will attempt the battery replacement tomorrow.

Yay! That was easy! Took about 10 minutes. I used an old credit card and pried open the case- it is tricky, lots of clips. Unscrewed that top cover over the board, disconnected cables, then carefully pried out the battery (scary, but OK). Put it back together and it had a 41% charge on it. Checked that everything worked except the wireless charging, so I pushed hard on the "S" on the back and that clicked and fixed it. Then installed a battery drain app and started to drain it down to nothing, then charge it back up to full! Hope to get another 2+ years out of this sucker.

Update: I just checked the website and apparently the day after they shipped my first battery via UPS ground, they shipped the second one via something called "UPS Mail Innovations" (????). The first invoice/ship had the $7.95 S/H charge and this later one has $0 S/H. So I expect to have the other one I can use for upgrading my mother's phone, soon.

I went and splurged on a toolkit on amazon figuring it might come in handy in the future. Good to hear it went well, from what I've seen it just takes patience. I'll be doing the swap this week. The old one is on its last legs at this point.

I am not trying to be satcastic. I really want to know. Why did you buy a phone without a removable battery in the first place?

I know it's a Nexus and that alone is a big draw. Is that the reason? I was close to getting the 6P but in the end I couldn't pull the trigger since it doesn't have that or an SD card.

At some point I may change my mind...probably because I won't have a choice. So far my option is to stay with my Note 3. And still happy doing so.

Stock android and updates trumps a removable battery.

Tools arrived today and since the weather stinks, decided to give it a go. Haven't attempted anything like this before but it wasn't too bad. New battery was at 48% when I powered it up.

I didn't get a new battery, but I did get a whole new N5 which was brand new. A new battery in this phone is way better than the worn out one. My old one definitely lost a lot of its longevity after the 1.5 - 2 years I used it.

Yeah this phone arrived at my house on President's Day two years ago, funny that exactly 2 years later I replaced the battery.

You mostly just answered your own question

1) It is a Nexus
2) It has wireless charging
3) It was fast and featureful
4) It was a very reasonable price.

It is not uncommon to have a "non replaceable" battery.

I will say, except for the battery, it has been the best phone I have ever used, and there is no other phone on the market right now I would want (maybe the THIRD iteration Nexus 5 will have wireless charging???). So putting effort into keeping it working is well worth it.

I didn't use an SD card when I had a Samsuck phone. I was sick of the damn things getting corrupted. I also didn't go through the hassle of removing a battery to change them. They cost too much, the chargers cost too much, and it wasn't worth it.

I would use a flip phone before I use the Samsuck bloat, ever again. Go Nexus, no bloat.

I replaced the battery only once when I bought the 6400 mah double sized battery. Fantastic! Can last two full days with moderate use.

It's intensely pathetic that you feel you need to resort to name calling with "Samsuck". Real original. What are you? 10 years old? If you are then you are forgiven because what a 10 year old says is of no consequence. If not...grow up. I asked a serious question and you answered with something not remotely related.

I love the idea of the Nexus. I even just convinced my wife to get the 5X and she loves it. I am waiting for the next round of Nexus phones because I want the updates asap.

1 hour 40 minutes sot, 53% battery left.

Money well spent, at this point I've gained an hour in screen time vs. the old battery.

Yeah, I've been getting 4 hours SOT with the new one. Your right on par with that. Not bad at all really.

I have my new one on the way. I think I will go back to the N5 and give my wife the N5X. Her GS6 needs to be charged about 5 times a day and she is at her wits end. That's what she gets for being seduced by being able to buy cases for it.

This sounds great guys, I can't wait to get my N5 back out!

It came in a few days ago. Drove to Mom's today and put that one in her phone... another 10-15 min and another success.
