My camera's auto focus is nearly non existent.

I sit there waiting for a picture to be non blurry for sometimes up to 5 minutes. QR Scanner will NOT focus.

Anyone have this problem or have a work around other than factory reset? Running 4.2.2..the update that was supposed to fix this seemingly made it drastically worse for me.

What kind of conditions does this occur, or is it all the time? Also, what settings are you using for the camera? Finally, not trying to be rude, just want to check all the boxes, is the lens clean?

Lens is clean, I checked this as well.

HDR+ or non HDR it does this all of the time. Standard settings when non HDR.

I have I believe the same problem. On 4.4.2... The focusing issue occurs for me in low light, but not that low. I have a multitude of other devices all of which do just fine. Pretty frustrating...I understand it's a phone camera but it's the only phone I've ever had that won't at least attempt a shot. I tap the screen and the phone does it's thing, it looks to be in focus but right at the moment you're for the green circle it either just stops or it tries again.

No problems with my camera's auto focus when using regular and HDR+. I get auto focus problems when i am in video recording though. It doesn't even try to focus. It just stands there and im stuck with a blurry video.

I only have this issue when trying to focus on certain things, like something that blends in very well with the background. It doesn't happen often, Have you tried any other free camera apps like Camera FV-5 lite, Camera Zoom FX, Vignette Demo...

Mine seems improved after the update.
Perhaps try using ProCapture camera or Camera Zoom FX.

This would at least help you figure out if it is a issues with just the Google camera app or maybe a hardware issues with a bad lens?. Worth a shot.

No issues here with mine. Perhaps go into Settings - Applications - camera and clear the cache? Can you also take a picture as you normally would and post it for us to see?

Sent from my Nexus 5 using AC Forums mobile app

mine doesn't even focus, picture is just blurred and doesnt change while the auto-focus icon spins... can this be an hardware faliure?

(oh and I am running 4.4.2)

Have you found an answer yet as to how to fix it?

My front camera is super clear but my main camera is blurry beyond belief. The auto focus is not working at all

Ya...mine too!
It usually takes amazing snaps, but sometimes, the auofocus doesn't work.At all.It keeps switching from blurred to clear to blurred, like it's struggling to take a pic.Hope the next update adresses this issue :)

yeah but our problem isn't like this the camera NEVER focus NEVER..

has anyone fixed this yet????

FYI I have had the same issue on my Galaxy S4 for about a month. No idea why. I am guessing it's some sort of interface problem - surely it can't be a coincidence that it's affecting a bunch of people.

I never had a problem, through all releases, including L. Just got a replacement device from Google and I am having this same issue. The phone is a factory referb, just turned it on and this was the condition. Bar codes are so blurry they wont read, photos are blurry. The phone I returned did not have this problem so I am thinking it is hardware not software. I notified Google support, we'll see what they say.
