Nexus 5 - I think it's time...

Tomorrow the LG G2 will be announced. I think that'll be a clear indicator of the Nexus 5 specs, and if the leaks are right, we'll see a 5.2" 1080p screen, a Snapdragon 800 processor, and 3GB RAM.

the 3gb ram was still being decided i just want good speakers at least s600 prefferably s800 13mp camera or higher 2200+ battery for under 400 starting im sold

Is it all but assured the Nexus 5 will be based off of the LG G2?

I just don't see Google straying too far from the form factor of the Galaxy Nexus/N4. I think they will stay with the 4.7 inch display and a relatively compact size. They are very much against large amounts of internal storage so I think we will be lucky if we even get a 32gb option. I would be satisfied with the following specs.

4.7 inch 1080p display
S-600 quad core 1.7ghz
2400 mAh battery
wireless charging
decent sounding and loud speakers!
16gb model 399
32gb model 449

No way they skip the 800 processor with the LG G2 having one, ect. I believe it will be Snapdragon 800 and maybe 3g of ram. With hopefully a big battery.

It's a very, very good guess. There were reports that LG and Google employees had a meeting around a month ago where LG showed Google what the next Nexus would look like. So is it confirmed? No. But is the G2 the most likely phone for the Nexus to be based off of? Definitely. I'd be surprised if it isn't.

Honestly I can probably see Google Play Editions replacing the nexus line. I mean developers working this say the HTC One, GS4, Moto X, and the LG G2, all stock.

But nexus is also know the for the low price the gpe's dont have that

Really hard for me to believe that any Nexus 4 successor will have any sort of Nexus 4 "esque" pricing. I think the Nexus 4 pricing was an aberration.

After the pricing of the new Nexus 7, I think the new Nexus phone will still have a low price. I could maybe see Google starting out at $349 instead of $299, though. Hopefully they'll give us some decent storage options this time...

If Nexus 5 phone is coming but LG and Google are not making the Nexus 5 then this would be the biggest opportunity missed to give Nexus fans a flagship Nexus. I know they are about making "halo" devices but damn this LG G2 is ridiculous. If they don't use LG G2 as the base device to make the next nexus phone then no other phone will top G2 except for the Note 3, One Phablet, and Xperia i1 honami.

Though sort doubt they will make a Nexus Phablet unless next android os has features used for productivity, art, and media specific to phablets. This would be nice since phablets are only category phones the Nexus hasn't touched and if Nexus 5 was based on phablet then Nexus 5 could pushed that particular market like the original Nexus 7 did for tablets.

But also think Google is moving at great pace and working on improving android so trying step in phablet market may not be not until next year.

I'm also confused about the size. The G2 has fairly small bezels and still manages to be slightly larger than the S4. Maybe Google will, instead, opt for a 5" screen, .2" of which will be occupied by the on screen buttons. That would be the ideal size for me, anyway, and it would also keep the phone a decent size while not straying away from the smartphone screen sizes that have been popular this year.

I don't see that happening solely for the reason that the manufacturers update the Google Play Editions, not Google. And technically GPE phones do have a few modifications based on the phone so they're not completely stock. Google has to create devices that receive straight stock Android updates and, for that reason, I think Nexus devices will always exist in some way. And, really, the Nexus line has just hit its stride. The OG Nexus 7 sold very well and apparently the Nexus 4 sold better than expected.

I see GPE devices giving Google a chance for Google not make a Nexus device on a previous know device but make something completely original.

I wish for Google to go smaller and back to 4.7" screen size with edge to edge technology because love size of the Moto X however if they don't go that route then sort of just want Note 2 size phone because battery life. I have GS3 and that is sort cumbersome for me to use in one hand. I have two problem with android of late size and battery life. I like that Samsung and HTC are making smaller phones but hate that don't have battery life I want. Then hate that phones do have battery life want are either a Droid or Phablet. So you can see I don't care for in between like GS3 because I don't get either pro of battery life or size.

Google features made for art, productivity and media built into android is stock android. I don't quite understand what you are saying by "added features" like "quick memo" is not stock android?
