Nexus 5 is better than the iPhone.

Oh and I guess all the Apple fans over here trashing the Nexus 5 camera for ten threads on a Nexus 5 board is objective in your opinion? I really didn't buy a Nexus 5 or any phone for a camera. That is what my Nikon DSLR is for. I refuse to keep getting ripped off price wise with a bling-bling marketing appeal that was build on impressing technology challenged customers that overpay for a phone and tablet for the bling-bling factor. I got rid of my four iPhone that broke all time in their over priced closed propriety prison world environment that doesn't play well with others manufactures devices. Sorry I won't except a toy size tiny screen with a one phone fits all design. Apparently a lot of other people feel the same way.

Lol I'm not ripping on the Nexus 5 any upgrade from my Nexus 4 would be lovely on terms of camera.

People get to choose what they want you don't dictate their life. I like the Moto X and Nexi line up better doesn't mean I have go bash Apple.

Good god. It's not being objective because you're missing the definition of objective. You owning all 3 devices has NOTHING to do with you being objective. Objectivity has to do with facts, and facts have to be established by measurements, not by "feeling." You can't find something objectively better, because 'better' is by definition a subjective term, not an objective one.

You answered which phone you found to be the best in your use case. And that's your *subjective* opinion. That is not the same as saying a phone is "the" best. Because there is no "best", objectively speaking.

I think what's going on here is you are confusing 'impartial' with 'objective.' The two aren't the same. You can be impartial and still have personal preferences towards features, looks, software, etc. Impartial merely means that you didn't set out to make one phone a winner; that you gave each an equal chance to win your heart. In 'objective', your heart is irrelevant. Your preferences are irrelevant. ONLY measurable, reproducable things are relevant when it comes to objectively using a relative/superlative term. Objective is not a value judgment, like 'better' is. I have had both hot coffee and iced coffee. I think iced coffee is better - because I like it better; it makes my taste buds happier. That is an impartial judgment, not an objective judgment. An objective judgment would be that iced coffee is colder than hot coffee.

Look up objective in the dictionary. You can have an objective -opinion- based on facts. For instance, the Moto X has a higher MP count than the Nexus 5---fact. Obviously in mobile you can't quantify or present as -fact- some of the things that would determine ones opinion on what phone is the best, but I figured that went without saying and when I said the word objective or anyone else did, they were referring to being impartial based on that. I wasn't going to use subjective because my personal preference, my daily driver, is the Nexus 5.

Either way, objective or subjective, or just impartial, it doesn't matter. I'm sorry if my assessment of your phone makes you feel bad---just being realistic.

No, not in the context of 'objective' as an antonym to 'subjective.'

Yes, IS objective, because it has nothing to do with opinion. The Moto X camera does have a higher MP count. And you may use that objective fact to justify your subjective opinion that it is "better", but that judgment is still subjective.

That's all that I have been trying to say.

Then you need to figure out why you are carrying around a product you clearly consider to be inferior, but your opinion that one is 'better' than the other is still subjective, by definition.

Lol. Well I'm going to be an adult and leave the personal attacks to well, you know.

I don't need to figure out why I'm carrying an inferior phone. For me, it keeps me off contract--that's it. I can look at another device and say it's better because my own personal reason for using this phone doesn't have anything to do with the phone itself. I bought the Nexus 5. I use the Nexus 5. I still don't think it's the best phone. I'm sorry if that's so confusing to you.

Who's been saying that? Nevertheless Google still allows for customers to have a much greater amount of choice in products. That's an important advantage.

I've got the Verizon Moto X for work. I don't use contracts for my personal phones so the $349 pricetag was the reason I went with the Nexus 5. It's not like this phone is garbage or unusable. I'm just not remotely as enamored with it as some (Jeff) are.

[Sigh] In that case you should sell it. Life's too short not to love your phone. :)

Yeah, how dare that Jeff person post about how much he likes the Nexus 5 in the Nexus 5 forum. Who does he think he is? He needs to stop posting his opinions about the Nexus 5 in the Nexus 5 forum.

Posting an opinion of Apple or the iPhone is not "bashing". Apple is a company, and the iPhone is a product. They are not friends or family.

No, by all means. Your blatant fanboyism is entertaining.

You're right! How dare some of us love our Nexus 5's! We should all be grumbling and depressed and doing nothing but talking about the ways in which the phone sucks... "My Nexus 5 doesn't come with a holodeck." My Nexus 5 won't have my baby." "My Nexus 5 forgot my birthday."

Then you'd be happy...

Alright, fair enough. Thanks for clarifying. And, it turns out that value isn't something you consider when you make the judgment on what is 'better'. You are free not to, however, that is just one thing that makes such judgment subjective.
I can look at another device and say it's better
Nobody said you couldn't, so please drop the strawman. All that we have said is that 'better' is not an objective judgment; it's a subjective one.
