Nexus 5 is better than the iPhone.

I disagree with the OP because pretty much every flagship android phone this year is better than the 5S, not just this one. I would buy an iPhone instead of a windows phone, a blackberry, or one of those Chinese android phones. iOS7 just doesn't cut it still, the phones are way too small still, and the A7 while fantastic, isn't being taken full advantage of.
And I completely disagree with you.

NP, that's why I don't have a ton of posts defending the virtues of Android on iMore, even though I also own Apple products along with android

Agreed. I would take any of this years Android's flagships over the 5S. Mainly because of the screen size and because of my hate for iOS :p
Yet millions of people will stick to their guns and say that the iPhone is better
I wish everyone who bought an iPhone 5S this year could try out something like the Moto X, it would be the best for anybody making the transition and I guarantee a number of them would switch :(

But what if those people are happy with the iPhone? Why try and force them to change?

You are not forcing them to change. You are just letting them try out another phone to see if they like it.

And I ask you, if they are happy with their current phone make them try out another phone? Personally I am more happy with my Nexus but i know many people won't be.

Yeah. Just let them try out your phone to see if they like it. No harm in that.

I'm just trying to be objective. The screen on my 5s is gorgeous, its just smaller than I prefer. The camera is simply better than my Note 3, especially in low light. Its disturbingly better and it's annoying because I'd really like everything about the Note 3 to be better than the iPhone 5s. iOS 7 is too plain...too simple for my tastes. I prefer Android's tweakability. For those that want to tinker Android is the clear choice. iOS 7 is not bad and I don't understand the dislike towards it. It's iOS just like iOS before it, with a new look. It's just not Android...at all. ...but it doesn't want or try to be.

For someone who loves his Nexus phone so much you sure do defend Apple and talk down Android

Look at iMore. I do prefer Android more but I'm certainly not afraid to say the short comings of Android for me. If i liked ios more then I would have had an iPhone 5S, instead I'm looking on how to get the Nexus 5 imported to my country.

Off-topic but is LTE really worth it? My carrier won't charge extra for the LTE upgrade but is it worth the hassle from instead of getting the US model easily, with 20mbps on HSDPA+ or should I pay a bit more to get the international model?

My mother just got the 5s and the screen is more bright, vivd, and it has better viewing angles than my N5. Like said already though, it's way too small. My mom had a Note 2 before she bought the iphone and all she's doing is complaining about the size. The only real reason she bought one is because all her friends have one and she already had an ipad 4th gen.

That is what I feel is the reason many people have iphones. Because EVERYONE else has one and it's annoying to see people jump on the band wagon. Thankfully it's changing VERY slowly.

Just to mention, the camera and battery on my moms phone is better than my N5 but I wouldn't trade it for night and day. :)

Agreed, a friend of mine who has an S3 is going to get the 5S and I'm just baffled at how he could go back to a small screen.
I don't know how the 5S's battery is but my sister's 5 has terrible battery life. She is a heavy user and has to charge at 2x a day. I have trouble killing my S4 in one day

Not sure how the LTE in your country is but here it is significantly faster than HSPA+ I used to get about 7 down with 3 up which was definitely fast enough but now that I have LTE I can definitely see the difference. I get 25+ down and 12+ up
If it's free go for it

If an iPhone with a 4.7+ inch screen and a tweak-able OS or at least one that wasn't so locked down I would seriously consider getting it
Everytime I see an iPhone I can't help but wish that it had a bigger screen because it is a really good looking phone

The LTE speed is anywhere from 80mbps to 150mbps depending in your area. My commuting areas hit the 100mbps area.

O_o Doesn't sound right, fastest here is significantly slower than that. Not even the LTE-A tests I've seen are that fast
