Nexus 5 is better than the iPhone.

O_o Doesn't sound right, fastest here is significantly slower than that. Not even the LTE-A tests I've seen are that fast

Our carriers use the 100/50 stream or the 150/75 stream. Your carriers use a gimped version of LTE.

I'm just trying to be objective. The screen on my 5s is gorgeous, its just smaller than I prefer. The camera is simply better than my Note 3, especially in low light. Its disturbingly better and it's annoying because I'd really like everything about the Note 3 to be better than the iPhone 5s. iOS 7 is too plain...too simple for my tastes. I prefer Android's tweakability. For those that want to tinker Android is the clear choice. iOS 7 is not bad and I don't understand the dislike towards it. It's iOS just like iOS before it, with a new look. It's just not Android...at all. ...but it doesn't want or try to be.

What about the 5S camera is better specifically?

I've seen samples of the pictures on the 5S...while they are very good, I do not think they are the best of any camera right now.

If an iPhone with a 4.7+ inch screen and a tweak-able OS or at least one that wasn't so locked down I would seriously consider getting it
Everytime I see an iPhone I can't help but wish that it had a bigger screen because it is a really good looking phone

Well, they say a picture is worth 1K words:

Both pictures taken moments apart in the same lighting with the cameras at default. The 2nd one is way more accurate. ...we gotta keep that little thumb out of his mouth.

For 99.9% of smartphone users the iPhone offers the best camera with the best quality. The nexus 5 is nowhere close, and the S4 and Note 3 are closer but still a fair ways away.

I had a Nexus 4 for a year and just got my 5s. The camera is amazing simply because you can easily point and shoot. You do not need to worry about the quality of the photo. I remember cringing after taking photos with the Nexus 4. There was a 50/50 chance that the photo was going to be deleted.

My mother just got the 5s and the screen is more bright, vivd, and it has better viewing angles than my N5. Like said already though, it's way too small. My mom had a Note 2 before she bought the iphone and all she's doing is complaining about the size. The only real reason she bought one is because all her friends have one and she already had an ipad 4th gen.

That is what I feel is the reason many people have iphones. Because EVERYONE else has one and it's annoying to see people jump on the band wagon. Thankfully it's changing VERY slowly.

Just to mention, the camera and battery on my moms phone is better than my N5 but I wouldn't trade it for night and day. :)

I live in South Korea where Samsung and LG dominates. I just switched from the Nexus 4 to a 5s. Did I jump on the band wagon?

The camera and battery are the two most important aspects of a phone for me so I paid for it. Do I miss the flexibility of Andriod? Yes.....

But the camera is great on the 5s and I don't need to worry about my phone dying at the end of the work day.

The thing I don't really understand is why there should be such a difference in camera quality in today's top phones. They should all be as good as the best phone cameras and they're not. Why? Why is the iPhone's camera noticably better? Samsung, LG, HTC, and Moto don't have access to the same camera technology? Is there the same amount of variance in DSLRs?

Apple just knows how to optimize. Instead of throwing top specs just because, Apple tweaks the **** out of their hardware. Nothing is as fluid as Apple.

uh huh

As for the S4:
In addition to HDR+, the camera's other sweet spot is low-light performance, and the inclusion of optical image stabilization (OIS) helps a great deal. It wasn't able to capture quite as much light as powerhouses like the HTC One (especially in places that were almost pitch black), but the Nexus actually outperformed it in some aspects, such as overall detail and the ability to focus on closer objects. It was also a huge improvement over the Nexus 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 in nearly every way

Nexus 5 review: the best phone $350 can buy
Even with all this aside, the iPhone has never been recognized as the best camera even by Apple people. That honor goes to the Nokia Lumia 1020 camera.

I'll just say this. I currently have the 5S, the Note 3' and the N5. Right now the shudder speed on the 5S is amazingly faster than the N5, but I digress.

As a music player, in a mildly audiophile kind of way, the 5S smokes the other two as a native media player. This means the Note 3 has a great sounding stock music app, but that doesn't do any good as far as any streaming music. To me, the DAC, et al, is much better on the 5S..

For everything else, right now bigger screen wins; but for me, I keep the 5S around for it's ability as an all around music player, native music or streaming, which sounds fabulous with my set up. In that regard, the N5 for me doesn't measure up to the 5S or Note 3

I'm going to run the N5 for the rest of the week myself, but I really like the Note 3. It's not a fair fight between the note3 and Nexus 5, but we'll see.

Yep, that is where the iPhone really shines. The S3 and S4 also take fast pictures. The Nexus 5 and the nexus 4 both have bad shutter lag and are slow to take pictures. With the nexus 4 you need a steady hand to take good pictures. OIS helps a lot with that on the 5.

The iPhone's dual flash makes flash pictures look better too.
