Nexus 5 is better than the iPhone.

Hold onto that one instance of slower speed, Jeff. Ignore the countless other things it's just as fast at
I know, you have linked to so many examples. Which of the thousands of videos you linked to are you talking about specifically though?

Hold onto it, even now, when the Moto X is now running 4.4 and that video becomes irrelevant.
Based on what? I have yet to see any actual evidence.

You don't like using benchmarks, yet won't post any non-benchmark examples. Therefore what...we just take your word for it?

Considering you've never used the Moto X
Yeah, cuz you know me so well, right?

Yes, I have used a Moto X. More than once.

IPhone rocks because dual core is better than quad core. Snapdragon is such a stupid name. A7 is simpler. My phone also comes in gold. My phone has the world's first finger print sensor. #hipster

Motorola’s own flagship phone of 2011, the Atrix, offered a fingerprint reader long before Apple stole the idea. Maybe some day Apple will steal the idea of getting a screen size bigger than 4 inches. A wireless Qi Charger that is a industry standard. Miracast support and NFC. Maybe someday apple will decide that their one size fits all iPhone doesn't fit people that are tired of that same 2007 style look and feel with a tiny screen. But there is no chance Apple will ever make a affordable iphone since there whole apple market is based on over priced bling marketing. There is no chance apple will ever take down their walled garden and give people the freedom of the market place for Apps since apple can't stand competition of open markets. I won't buy a laptop that only goes to HP or Dell's stores to buy software and I won't buy a phone that forces me to buy only from them so they can over charge me.

You don't have to take my word for it. Take the word of the person who created the video you constantly point to. Or anyone else who's actually used the devices for any length of time outside of a store setting. Unlike you, I actually use (own) the phones I talk about and then make my judgments based on that. I'm not searching for comparison videos so you can sit there with a stop watch and hope your phone is faster. The fact you're even arguing this shows how little you know about the subject. The fact you keep bringing up benchmarks shows the same.

You don't have to take my word for it.
In the absence of anything else I kinda have to.

Although it may seem like it I am not really trivializing your opinion. But you may have different priorities than other people. My sister, for example, was perfectly happy with a WVGA display...she has no idea why anyone cares about a 1040p display at all. She can't tell the difference.

So I'd like to see actual examples when possible. I am sure both you and Jerry do not see the speed difference in that video as a big deal, but a lot of other people might.

Take the word of the person who created the video you constantly point to.
He is no less biased than you are. Bias is not necessarily a bad thing. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Opinions do have value. But benchmarks and video cut away any bias that might be there. They are objective. So when making comparisons I like to see them.

And you let people know it, heh heh.

Other people on this forum ALSO use the same phones, yet do not agree with your opinion...so are they just wrong?

You realize how silly you sound, right? You're forming an opinion about an entire situation (speed) of devices based on one instance you saw on one video. If anyone owns both the Moto X and the Nexus 5 and believes the Nexus 5 is significantly faster in day to day use, they're on crack. Yes, the Nexus 5 benchmarks higher; it has the more powerful CPU. A CPU that can't be taken full advantage of by Android at this point. The Moto X was designed to be able to run Android as smooth as a phone like the Nexus 5 with less powerful hardware. You're also basing this off of the 4.2.2 Moto X when it's now at 4.4 just like the Nexus 5. I'm literally embarrassed for you that you're still arguing this.

The Nexus 5 is the faster phone. In day to day use, you wouldn't really know it. I'm hoping that makes you feel better because I said the Nexus 5 wins. The Note 3 is faster than your Nexus 5 by your standards. Now I took that happiness away. I'll spare you the links to the benchmarks; I'm sure you've cried looking at them already.

Something must be wrong with those of us that aren't concerned in the least about how their phone compares with someone else's.

I use the Nexus 5 as my daily driver and even I don't care that the Moto X can hang with it in day to day use. It's amazing what kind of performance they got out of that architecture.

I'm curious why you chose to only quote one of those two people while delivering your admonishment.

I'm still trying to understand why it's so important which phone is marginally faster. I could see if one took a solid minute to do a task while the other took 2 seconds, but when you're arguing about 6 seconds vs 3 seconds, is a difference of 3 seconds REALLY that big? If that means enough to argue for 23 pages of online forums, maybe you should loosen up your schedule a bit and make a little more time for yourself. I don't think anyone is really as important as we sometimes like to think we are.

I am not qualified to admonish anyone besides my 3-year old son and 14 year-old daughter. I apologize that you took my post as such.

I didn't even bother to watch the video he's referring to. At this point, I'm guessing it's not being able to accept his phone (and mine, for that matter) isn't as good as he thinks it is.

Futureproofing.

And it is not a marginal difference. The difference on benchmarks is pretty significant IMO. The Moto X does real well with the apps and tasks of today...how will it handle tasks 6 or 12 months from now? That is why benchmarks are important to me personally.

I spend a total of less than 5 minutes a day actually posting. It does not take that long to post something on here.

Oh, so I guess you quoted that post by accident before making that statement. A complete fluke even! Probably a glitch in the forum software yes? I'm sure it's just an innocent mistake, completely devoid of any intent towards the poster you quoted.

Silly me. My bad.

Well I guess that could have been aimed at me, although I'm pointing out that another phone is just as good as my own and not the other way around.

I'm not saying it takes long to post. I'm saying if a 3 second difference in real world usage between phones is that important, your schedule is too tight. And I will just put my name on the list of people who really can't muster up an ounce of care about a benchmark score. Real world usage ALWAYS trumps some computerized benchmark test. I'm happy for those who need the benchmark scores to live up to their expectations. If someone told you the benchmarsucked on your phone, but you never had a single problem from day to day, would you still care about that benchmark? I wouldn't...

So far I think you're the only one who twisted haalcyons post into this. Probably indicates that the issue isn't with him.

As Ambassador Team Leader of Android Central I take full responsibility for my team. In the event that any of my team ever steps over the line ( forum rules & guidelines ) I would expect to have their post reported so myself and the Moderator team can review the situation.

In light of the situation here I can speak on behalf of Haalcyon having the best interests for everyone in the forums and it is never his intention to cause issues. Like anyone who is passionate about something they enjoy things can at times get a little heated or over done from time to time. Seeing how Haalcyon did post a small apology that his remarks may have been taken the wrong way I applaud his efforts for attempting to make things right. Debates and discussion can get dicey at times and in those situations we always hope everyone is adult enough to step away or take a moment to think before responding and continuing a downward spiral in the thread.

Again, my team is here to provide help and support and engage in discussion. They do an excellent job of this overseeing and responding to hundreds of post each month and its all on a volunteer basis.

Really who sounds silly is a guy with a Moto X on the Nexus 5 board bragging about his phone that is even sold by the same company. The three factors that mean the most to me is 1. Price 2. Screen Size 3. CPU. Every one of those features are much better on the Nexus 5. The one thing I don't care much about is a phones camera since I own a real camera Nikon DSLR that makes all these phones camera look like Polaroids.

Price

Nexus 5 $349
The Moto X is $519 on Amazon

Screen Size

Nexus 5 sreen 4.95"
Moto X screen 4.7"

CPU

Nexus 5 Qualcomm? Snapdragon 2.2 GHz Quad-core processor
Moto X Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.7 GHz dual core

The only thing that the Moto X has over the Nexus 5 that I like is the always on "Ok Google" from the lock screen. Compared to the Nexus 5 the Moto X would have to cost no more than about $275 dollars or I would have still got the Nexus 5 that is a much better value. With the Nexus 5 at $349 the Moto X looks to me as overpriced based on the Nexus 5 value. The Moto X has almost nothing more in value in a phone for features than the Nexus 5 with the exception of the always on feature that I care about.

If it makes you feel better, even if he was taking a shot at me, I don't really mind. I don't think anything he said was out of bounds if that's how he feels.
