My disabled ones are the extra languages, Games, Newsstand, and the 2 printing ones.

I usually just drop Games, Books and Videos...

By the way.... Play Newsstand.... I see that pop up. I USED to just lump it in with Play Games/Videos/Magazines.... but then I opened it up one day. Its actually a pretty good news aggragator. I used to use Flipboard and (before it got replaced by Newsstand) Currents. It isn't just there for you go purchase online magazines.

So if anyone out there just sees it as another one of those red-headed stepapps like Games or Books.... give it a look first.

I agree. Newsstand is a lot better than Currents, which I recall was a big battery and memory hog.

It was... The first time tried it out on my old S3.... later in the day I noticed my battery was beat to a pulp and lo and behold, there was Currents, updating in the background like it was the giant ticker in Times f'n Square. I used Synker to only let it sync up once a day, in the morning.

I'd disable the stock calender app (I use Cal and Any.do), but it seems to mess with my google account calender data sync and that's not all that cool.

My list is similar to yours. Most all the Google apps disabled, except Play Store and Maps and Earth. Plus HP print thing and the non-English stuff. I haven't disabled Hangouts yet, but I don't use it.

Those are the only things I've disabled. I use Exchange email at work, so that's got to stay. And the rest of the Google services I need too.

The wonderful thing is there's virtually nothing that needs to be disabled, unlike a carrier phone.

Just Games...I'm a piker and occasionally use almost everything...Well not Hindi...but you never know?

With Google Drives big price drop, its just become a go to app again. I won't have to backup my wife's N4 Pics and Vids anymore...Niceee!

Go to Settings/Apps/All, and select the system app in question. Then tap Disable. Remember, disable is for system apps or preinstalled apps only--the apps you install yourself can simply be uninstalled.

Also remember that if a system app has been updated, you will have to uninstall all updates first before disabling.

For people who disabled "Face Unlock".
If you go to Settings->Security->Screen Lock->Face Unlock, does the Settings app crash on you?

It crashes for me and I feel like it is a bug. If "Face Unlock" is disabled that menu item should not be in Settings anymore.

Some system apps may start on their own, which will take up system RAM. While it's true that the system will automatically close some apps if more RAM is needed for other processes, that process does take a little bit of CPU power, so it would be more efficient to block apps that are never used from starting at all.
