nexus 6 back cover unstuck

Does anybody have a feel for how prevalent this problem is? ... 1% ... 5% ?

I'd like to add that any separation between the back cover and the frame (photos above show pretty big gaps but even a tiny gap counts) is a very serious defect and should not be ignored.

I admit any small separation is absurd. The back of the device shouldn't separate from the device by itself exposing the innards. That's pretty major imo. Hopefully by his is not very common because of it is the nexus 6 is as good as dead.

On the side where the volume rocker is, I can see lift but you have to sit there and really concentrate to be able to notice it. Nothing like the pictures people here are showing. Since it is very small I'm not sure whether to call Moto or just ignore it.

I would return that immediately. That looks terrible. You have me CLOSELY examining my phone. Fortunately I'm not having that issue.

Problem is of its the battery it is only going to swell up worse and separate the back further. Its definitely not going to get any better on its own. If I saw this and knew it was the battery causing this I would be freaking out.

It should be immediately returned as defective! Mine was purchased at launch and so far so good.

Then what's the point of getting a replacement?

I was actually hoping the first phone would last until february or something, and that the next batch of phones might not have the defect... But because the gap was like two to three milimeters after a week it was unusable. Of course the google person reassured it me was VERY unlikely to get two defective phones, let alone three, but I somehow don't believe her.

First two pictures were my first phone, a week old.

Third picture is my new phone, two minutes after being unboxed...

Same problem here right out of the box. Back cover is completely unstuck around the side buttons, on both side, with a 8-10 mm gap ...I had to send it back to amazon. The "funny" thing is that I couldn't close the box completely during re-packing the phone before returning, due to the augmented thickness of the device ...
"Nexus only" buyer since the first one back in 2009, I'm clearly disappointed by the quality of this one.

I'd like to think that those were counterfeit phones but unfortunately they probably aren't. Motorola has or HAD a history of excellent solidly built phones. Then Lenovo took over. Maybe this is what is to be expected now that they aren't built in Texas anymore. Maybe this is the best that China can pull together. If that is the case, Motorola is doomed.

That's too funny. The box wouldn't close Right. Lol.

I really love this phone though.... I would settle for a Nexus five but they're sold out.

Also both of mine came straight from the Google Play store, so the chance of them being counterfeit are low.

I don't understand how this isn't a bigger issue. I haven't seen this on any of the tech sites at all.
