Hey guys, I am new to Android- I just bought a Moto X (2nd gen) about a month ago, and while I love Android, and my Moto X in general, the battery life and camera are giving me a wandering eye, so I am thinking of moving over either to the Nexus 6 or the Moto Maxx (the rumored non-Verizon half brother of the Droid Turbo). Obviously both are Motorola-made, and the Nexus has a significantly larger screen. But how do they compare on the following (knowing that a lot of these qualities are only based on hardware and rumors):

1. Battery life
2. Camera quality
3. Expandable memory
4. Wireless charging
5. In the case of the Moto Maxx, when should I expect a release? Will it release with the Droid Turbo, or months later?

Thanks guys...

1. Moto Maxx (MM) has a larger battery, so may last longer now (though N6 will be more efficient at launch), and should definitely last longer after it gets Lollipop. Though I'd imagine it's got to be thicker (?)
2. Won't know till we see comparisons... So much is tied to software. MM has a higher MP count, but that's not everything - Lollipop grants much higher level of control on the camera API which makes a world of difference. N6 does have OIS, which might give it a leg-up.
3. Neither are rumored to have it (but if as rumored the MM only comes in a 32GB option, the N6 w/ a 64GB option might be favorable)
4. Both should have it, along with Qualcomm's 2.0 rapid charging
5. Almost certainly it will have a delay, as Verizon will pony up funds for exclusivity for 3 or 6 months.

To me, if these were both available today, I'd base my choice more on screen size preference and how much I wanted to ensure OS updates direct from Google... They both appear to be absolutely exceptional devices.

Concerning the camera, I just watched an interesting YouTube video by MKBHD where he reviewed the iPhone 6+.

The iPhone 6+ has Optical Image Stabilization like the Nexus 6 and that allows the shutter to stay open longer in lower light situations resulting in better pictures.

It's possible the Nexus 6 will have a better camera experience than the Turbo even though the Turbo has more megapixels.

Battery life moto maxx. 3900mah with smaller screen and basically the same hardware. Don't know about camera but isn't the nexus 6 have the same camera sensor as the moto x 2014 which isn't very impressive at all.

Nexus 6 has higher end sony camera sensor and OIS. Initial reactions are camera is much improved over Moto X 2014 edition...

Battery on Nexus 6 shouldvget heavy user through an entire day...

Google nexus 6:
The Nexus 6 is essentially a giant Moto X, which is no surprise given that Motorola designed it.

It was codenamed Shamu, and we can see why. It's massive, measuring in at just under 160mm long - a smidgen more than the gargantuan iPhone 6 Plus.

Apart from its size, it really does appear to be a carbon copy of the Moto X, sharing its rounded design, dual front-facing speakers, and rear dimple.

The most obvious visual difference is the nexus logo stamped on the rear, along with the lower position of the power and volume buttons on the right hand side, to accommodate for the larger size.

The Nexus 6 matches the Galaxy Note 4 spec-for-spec, making it one of the most powerful smartphones in the world.

Beating beneath its curvy shell is Qualcomm's mighty Snapdragon 805 2.7GHz quad-core processor, along with 3GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB on onboard storage.

It's a beast on paper, and we expect it to be fly in general use too, laughing in the face of multitasking and gaming.

The 805 is more efficient than the 801 processor found in other devices like the LG G3 and Sony Xperia Z3, which will also help squeeze out every last drop of battery.

Sadly there's no microSD slot, and the battery isn't removable either - the G3 and the Note 4 one-up the Nexus 6 in that regard.

2560 x 1440 2K resolution earns it a place alongside the LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in the 2K club.

That's a very decent 493 pixels per inch, and while not quite as dense as its LG and Samsung rivals, should still make for super-sharp images, even with your eyeballs hugging the display. Not that we'd recommend you do that, mind.

It's an AMOLED panel too, which means that it should match the Note 4 for vivid colours and true blacks.

Because AMOLED screens turn off all black pixels completely, it could help extend the battery life too.

Thankfully, the Nexus 6 has a large 3220mAh battery which, coupled with the more efficient processor, AMOLED screen and Android Lollipop's battery optimisations, should hopefully provide at least an all-day moderate to heavy usage experience.

What's history say for software updates for the Droid series? My memory says not good and I think some people assume that just because the X received quick'ish updates that the Droid Turbo will as well and that's not necessarily true since the X is a Motorola device whereas the droid branding is owned by Verizon, technically making that their device that's just made by Motorola. Given that verizon only opted to carry the 16gb 2014 X I'm sure the Droid will not receive as quick of updates since that's their in house brand and they want it to represent verizon and not Android or Motorola. Just my thoughts.
