AT&T declined my request for an unlock code for my Nexus 6 that is paid off, certainly eligible, with the explanation that:

"Your device is no longer supported, and we can no longer obtain the unlock code from the manufacturer."

I'd like to try out Project Fi. Do I have any options?

At&t is a bunch of dirt bags. That's ridiculous that they say the phone is no longer supported. They also would not give me the unlock code. So I bought one from cellunlocker. Worked perfectly. Using T-Mobile as we speak.

We should not be forced to pay for what AT&T is required by law to provide.

Add insult to injury as AT&T was the only carrier to lock the device down like that.
So they are the ones who required it to be locked then they wont unlocked it when its paid off.. Lame.

Weird I just got my N6 unlocked last Friday from AT&T

Did you use the unlock request site or did you call? I have never had an issue with the online request form.

I don't even want to cancel my service with AT&T - I just have a Nexus 6 serving no purpose, and I'd like to try out Project Fi.

But not if I have to pay to unlock it.

I would get in a chat over and over until I found a competent employee who would unlock it.

I finally received an unlock code from AT&T - after filing a complaint with the FCC. This seemed to get their attention, and cut through the resistance throughout my dealings with them.

So I tried to use the unlock code that I received from AT&T but received two unsuccessful errors on entering it. I stopped there, as I didn't want to permanently lock the phone after 5 attempts.

My Nexus 6 is running Cyanogenmod 13 - would that affect the process?
