My Motorola Pre-Order arrived this morning...a few days earlier than expected (11/19 was expected date). This phone is an absolute beast. Quite a bit bigger than I even imagined. After using my Moto X 2014 for the past few months, I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to switch to the big dog forever. It's just huge. I'll have to give it a few weeks to see if I can get used to it.

If you have any other specific questions vs. the Moto X 2014 or the OnePlus One (I've got one of those as well), just let me know, as I'm sure there still aren't a ton of these N6s floating around quite yet.

Wow, that's HUGE! Makes me think twice. How does it feel in the hand? I held the iPhone 6+ and it made my hand tired. Hope the Nexus 6 doesn't do the same.

Does wireless charging work?

Any thoughts on Moto features vs. Lollipop features?

I'm specifically interested in Moto Display vs. Ambient Display, as well as Touchless activation of both devices.

One of these two phones will be my next, coming from a 2013 Moto X.

Thank you!

How much larger and heavier than the OPO? Much difference in the screen resolution to the naked eye?

Thanks!

It feels big. Not quite 6+ big tho because it's more curved and fits a bit better. I've got small hands and while it's certainly not a one handed phone, it's still manageable. For now.

Is it fast and fluid and do you need to push the brightness up

Yes, fast and fluid. Much more responsive than the Nexus 9 was out of the box. I have 5.0 on my Moto X as well, and the difference between them is negligible. Not sure you really need the 805/3gb spec bump if the size is out of the question. The X runs 5.0 phenomenally.

The brightness slider is at around 90% compared to the X which is at around 75% for the same brightness level. So clearly the X is brighter overall.

This could be the one make or break item. I LOVE Moto Display...and it's significantly better than Ambient. And with all of the pocket dialing stuff I've been reading about, it really scares me. It's a lot harder to pocket activate Moto Display than Ambient, that's for sure. I have yet to have an issue with my X...we'll see how it goes on the N6.

Being able to switch between the two settings is one of the really nice features of the Moto X. I wonder if they'll allow for that control on the N6 at some point. That would be nice...if it's an app in the app store. I mean it is a Moto phone...I suppose without all of the infrared sensors, it might now work correctly.

Slightly bigger...definitely noticeable...especially width wise. The OPO is easier to hold, especially with the texture (on the Sandstone black version).

Screen res is tough for me to discern. Cant' really tell the difference. The only real differences I see are in screen tech (AMOLED vs. LCD)...but resolution wise, both are fantastic.

Is the lower brightness really an issue or is it overblown?

Overblown. Its not quite as bright as the X but still nearly blinding in low light at max brightness. Haven't really tested in direct sunlight.

dbdynsty25, you can help me a (and others) LOT with this one!!! I am on the fence re: either an N6 or a MotoX 2014. I DO prefer the larger screen of the N6, but I am intrigued by the Moto Voice/Moto Assist features. Also, after scouring this Forum, have a few other concerns as well. Your opinion on these are GREATLY appreciated.

1. How much of a "show stopper" is the lack of Moto Assist/Moto voice? Given that the N6 has "Always On OK Google" (which some say is even more responsive than the Moto X because the N6 has a dedicated chip for Always On), does that mitigate the absence of the Moto Apps?

2. How does the screen quality/brightness compare to the MotoX in general? How does it compare outdoors in direct sunlight?

3. What about the file read/App opening slowness that's been reported. How does speed compare to your Moto X?

4. In the end, if you had to choose one as your "daily driver", and cost WAS NOT an issue, which would you chose?

Thanks in advance (multiple Thanks already sent)! :-)

Thanks, I appreciate your initial impressions between the two phones. If you have any additional thoughts on this, definitely share them in this thread, I know there will be other interested parties as well.

1. I really don't think the Moto Assist stuff is that big of a deal because of the "Ok Google" functionality. That is almost equal IMO. However, the display part is the one that bothers me. 7 times out of 10 so far, the screen doesn't light up when taking it out of my pocket. Thus, I have to fumble around for the power button. Fumbling a phone this big equals a drop. I've got to be really deliberate in all my movements because of it's size. The Moto X ALWAYS turns on when I pull it out of my pocket. ALWAYS. Just tap the notification or swipe down to unlock and boom, you're in the phone. This is my biggest issue at the moment.

2. As I look at these screens more and more, I'm leaning towards the X. The viewing angles, while good, are not even in the same ballpark as something like the iPhone 6/6+. The screen distorts more at angles on the N6 than it does on the X...and the lack of maximum brightness will damn sure be a detriment in outdoor viewing. I haven't tested it yet, but I can almost guarantee that will be the case. The N6 runs more purple in tint, whereas the X runs more yellow. I prefer the purple/blue most times, but again, the distortion off angle is must more noticeable on the N6, which is why I'd pick the X in this case as well. There are some pics below. The straight on shot, the screens look really similar. But hit an angle, and the N6 gets all kind of washed out and gross while the X is a little more true to it's original image. Pics were taking on the OnePlus One, so they are't that great (never have been a huge fan of it's camera).

3. I haven't seen any slowness in any particular app or file functionality. However...the touch screen on the X seems to be more accurate to the touch. It's just makes you feel as though it's more responsive.

4. You can see where this "update" is heading. Moto X will likely be my daily driver. Unless Moto somehow puts their App suite on Google Play, or I can download them (at least their ambient display portion), the N6 will likely be sold. I've had it for a good 12+ hours now and I've yet to be enamored with it. The camera is definitely a step ahead of the X, but I'm not sure it's worth the other sacrifices. I've taken some good shots with the X, so it's not like it CAN'T take good shots. I still look at my Moto X on the other side of my desk lovingly...so it appears that will be the direction I head. Then it'll be a decision between the OnePlus One and the X.

How is the battery life between the two? I'm on my phone quite a bit, I leave my house at 8am and usually get home around 9 or 10pm so I need a good battery. I've stayed away from the new moto x because of the battery size. I have the OG moto x and the battery life is terrible. If I make it to 3pm that's a good day. I have an s4 that is better on battery life plus I can swap out batteries but I do not like touchwiz. I'm close to ordering the Moto X but I really want to see a N6 in real world use.

I don't really comment on battery life until I've used it for a few days/discharge cycles. Seems ok for now. Moto X 2014 is def better than the first X...probably by about 25-30% from my usage. The OnePlus One is even better but that's not what this is about. Haha.

I gotcha, thanks. I'm on Verizon so unfortunately I have no chance at the OnePlus One. Knowing the new X is better than the first X is a little comfort.
