Just curious? Anyone is using project fi? What's your experience with the service? What's the breakdown of project fi? And has anyone paid extra $10/GB for data overages?

I use it but not for my main line. The coverage is not as good as ATT in DFW. Initially signed up for 3 GB plan and used a gig so then got 20+ bucks back. I also paused the account and you do not pay for the time it is paused. Currently on the 2 GB plan which is $40. Overall I love the features but the the coverage is not as good as I am used to. For example last night I took my phone to eat and for much of the time I had a signal on LTE but the data was just not working. I would try to use my phone it would just not work up to the standards of ATT.

I've been on it since mid-August. I have two phones, the N6 on Fi, and a Moto X Pure on Verizon. I'm in Upstate New York, and the coverage on Fi sin't anywhere near as good as Verizon.......but I didn't expect it to be. It's not bad though.

I only bought a 1G plan. Last month I used .396G of data, so I was refunded $6.04. This month (with three days left in the billing cycle) I've used a whopping .148G......or $1.48 worth of data. My bill this month should be somewhere around $26 including tax and fees. I've learned how to conserve data on Fi (my other line is Unlimited on Verizon).

All in all, I'm happy with the service. Sure, there are bugs and kinks that need to be worked out. The network switching doesn't always work like it should, but you can get around that with the dialer codes/fi spy. I'll give it a few more months and see how things go. If they can iron the kinks out, I may switch to Fi all together.

I wanted to know exactly how does the WiFi part Work on project fi? Like will I get Internet even with password on the WiFi networks around me?

WiFi works like WiFi......... The only real difference is that you will automatically connect via Google VPN to OPEN HOTSPOTS. If there is so much as a login page, it won't connect automatically.

If you need a password to connect with wifi, then that's what you'll need to do. Just like any other wifi connection. I'm home a lot, so I use wifi calling and texting which works great.

Which cities or areas are you from? I'm in Bay area and have ordered my Fi Sim card. T-mobile shows great 4g coverage in this area. Would it all be great on the Fi Sim? Or is the reception less than what T-mobile users get?

Currently using AT&T on the Nexus 6.

I would imagine that reception would be good on T-Mo if you already get good reception from T-Mo, because they are one of the carriers on Project Fi.

I'm from the Binghamton, NY area.....and coverage is pretty much what I exptected.....Tmobile plus Sprint. Reception is fine, and it'll roam on Verizon and AT&T if you have no Sprint/Tmobile coverage (granted at much slower speeds).

When you say "Upstate NY" do you really mean upstate or a couple hours out of NYC? I'm in the Finger Lakes region and I've got the Nexus 5x on VZW and have been clinging to the unlimited data...until they told me they were upping the monthly cost another $20. I just don't use that much data since I'm in WiFi most of the time but when I travel I definitely use more. If I had something reasonably priced like Fi where it flexed that might suit me better... but Big Red really seems to be the only reasonable carrier in terms of service in this area. Since I've finally said that they can have the unlimited data back at the end of this month I'm SERIOUSLY considering giving Fi a shot... but I doubt there are many (if any) in this region that would give it a shot so I can't find any testimonials for it locally...

I use Project Fi as my one and only line since August 7. Coming from Sprint, it was an upgrade (I'm, in Manhattan). I think anyone coming from Verizon won't be impressed by the coverage. But the key is how much Wi-Fi you use. I have Wi-Fi at home and work. That's how my monthly bill is a low $35 per month. I love Project Fi and can't wait to try it out in the UK with my Nexus 6.

I have a Verizon unlimited account. After learning they are going to try and get another twenty per line, we have 3. I ordered a Fi Sim for my nexus 6 and installed it on November 3rd to see how the network worked around here, 30 miles east of Pittsburgh. I have wifi at home. Happy to report I have lte everywhere around here. On a trip up to State college and back I only saw it drop to 3G once. I am a very consistent 3 to 4 gbs a month of data, after 17 days on Fi I am at 1,13 gbs. I am almost ready to port my # over to Fi. I am pleasantly surprised just how good it's worked so far. It's a fairly cheap experiment that seems to be working out.

OUCH! As someone moving to Dallas soon that is very disappointing. I love TMO and would never leave except to Google Fi.

The coverage is good but just as good as ATT. Most of the networks have good coverage here. I live in an area not on a golf course but essentially surrounded by one and used a website to see my coverages. ATT has the most towers near where I live and TMO did not have any near. Even TMO's website showed I would get good not Excellent coverage. For my Zip code, ATT has the best coverage.

Here is the website
