Nexus 6P - 3 Months Later

I removed mine cause I prefer the touch of the natural screen. No issues at all with Google keyboard. Most responsive phone I've ever owned. You'll definitely want to make sure it's not the TGSP before declaring there are response issues with the display. I've read a ton of forums/comments and you're the first person I've heard mention that issue. If the screen protector isn't the issue is contact Google, cause no way should that be an issue.

It is the Spigen 9H GLAStR Tempered Glass Screen Protector

I would be overjoyed with the 6P if 2 things could happen:
1) Fix the annoying LTE connection issue that is plaguing multiple carriers across the world
2) Give me VOLTE please!

I have been spoiled and want both of these to work flawlessly like they did on my AT&T branded Galaxy S6 Edge ;)

My impression exactly. I love this phone, but the the LTE issue is severely hindering my experience at the moment.

I won't use one until this is fixed. And the Bluetooth. And the Gmail notification issue. Which sucks. Because it's otherwise an awesome phone.

It's a total bummer because this phone should be the best thing since sliced bread. It's not if one of its most important features is this bad.

I have a Nillikin TG (.2mm)... With it, the screen registers even the slightest touch. On a thicker one (some are 50% thicker) it may not be so sensitive.

Are you using the Nillkin H+ Pro? Am using the same one - the touch is awesome and the oleophobic coating is better than the one on the original screen.

Yep.. the precise one. I've had really good luck witht he Nillikin TG's. I put one on my Nexus 5, both me and my wife's G3s, my wife's G4 and now my 6P. The only snafu I've run into was that the one I got for my 6P must have had a small defect in the lamination and when I installed the first one, I was cleaning with the little wipe thing and the edge shattered (crunched really) under the pressure of my finger. Nillikin sent me another one and that went on without a hitch.

Yeah... nice screen. Does a good job of staying clean, and even when it smudges, it wipes off really easy. Love the thing and nothing beats the feel of real glass.

Yeah, I could handle some minor glitches and annoyances, but the LTE, Bluetooth, Gmail notification problems are all MAJOR and aren't fixed to this day. I'm a Google/Android lover but I had to move to Apple for some stability until this MM stuff gets worked out. I'll be back as soon as it is! I just couldn't imagine Apple sending out an update that broke LTE on some carriers, and then waiting well over a month to fix it. The same goes for Bluetooth and email notifications. I hope Google gets this stuff worked out soon, for mine and everyone else's case.

Get swiftkey it is by far the most accurate and best predicting keyboard. Been using it on all my Android phones and has some cool themes you can download.

the gmail is an easy fix, and fortunately I'm not having Bluetooth issues, but if I was, plus LTE wasn't working, I'd be pretty upset. I'm surprised it's taken Google so long to fix these issues, especially the gmail thing. let's put it this way, if they were having the same problems with gmail on iOS, you could bet your bottom dollar it'd be fixed by now.

Yeah, the combo just kills it. Which sucks. This is THE phone I want. I don't see why or how it has taken Google to fix their own apps and THEIR phone. These are debilitating issues. And I don't think you should have to find a fix or a work around for Google's own apps to work properly. They should just work.

This should be the phone to have. I will definitely grab another one if this stuff gets taken care of.

I have a love/hate relationship with the 6P. Hands down the best Nexus yet. However...
  • "Okay Google" works 1/3 the time. "Okay Google...okay Google...okay Google...OKAY GOOGLE...okay Google, I give up."
  • The size is right. The Nexus 6 was a great phone, but now I can see how it was too big. Nexus 6P nails it.
  • Horrendous lag problem, especially with the camera. The app comes up quickly, but taking pictures 60% of the time won't register I've taken one and will often start the burst mode about 5-10 seconds after I've held the button down. I uninstalled Facebook, which helped for awhile. Uninstalled Flipboard, helped for awhile. Dropped the Pujie Black clock widget, helped for awhile. Stopped the other automatic photo upload options. Still laggy. Not cool. Could it be Swiftkey? Could it be Twitter? Could it be it only works without apps?
  • I don't know how I lived without fingerprint unlock.
  • How come the 6P is the only phone which needs the cutout for the proximity sensor in a screen protector?

Again, what I love, I adore. The annoyances are magnified because it's a great phone.

I have the Inskin TGSP. It's 0.33 mm thick. No touch issues whatsoever and that is a fairly thick protector.

@Kembry.. I have none of those lag issues you mention. I have experienced nothing only smooth, fast performance. I've only had the phone for a month but am quite happy with it. And the Nexus is certainly not the only phone that needs the proximity sensor uncovered.

Really considering using Apple as well.

I absolutely miss the freedom of Android. But I don't miss the issues. The 6P is a great phone. All of the issues I had I'm sure were software related and should be fixed at some point in time. But I wasn't going to keep using it. I will absolutely go back when it's fixed. But I also have had zero issues with my iPhone other than a Facebook notification issue and what appears to be random soft resets during the night. They don't cause any problems. It just seems like my phone has rebooted. But it only happens at night.

I understand the frustration. However, if you go to Apple forums people have issues with their iPhones too. I'm constantly hearing complaints about reception, occasional lag, camera issue here and there. In other words, there isn't a model of phone that doesn't have its share of problems.

What is interesting about the Bluetooth, LTE, and gmail issues is that not all of us experience them. Those would cause me to look elsewhere for a phone but the truth is I'm not experiencing any of them. My Bluetooth connection in my car has been flawless with both music and calls (2012 Lincoln). I receive my gmail almost instantly (yes I've checked to be sure) and data and service connections have been LTE service except in some rural non LTE areas.

I have to wonder what is the difference between those of us with no issues and those with issues. A bad batch of phones? An app conflict? Dumb luck? I don't know but it would be interesting to find out.

I also wonder what the actual percentage is of users with issues and those with none of those issues. Those with great working 6p's aren't going to be inclined to read or respond to problem threads. I'm not questioning those who are having these prkblems, I'm just expressing my curiosity as to what is actually going on here and if there are problems what is the true percentage of users who have these problems. I would find that answer to be of great interest but its also the answer we are least likely to ever learn.

Oh yeah. I know nothing is perfect. My 6s Plus has been close to it. I also tend to trust the customer service with Apple more than anything else, if something does go wrong.
