Hey Guys,

I am having trouble connecting my Nexus 6P to my car for calls. It connects fine to play music but does not seem to want to connect for calls. I have a 2014 Ford Focus Trend if that helps at all. I also have a Moto360 connected as well.

What I have tried is

Un-pairing the Nexus and the Car
Restarting the phone
Turning off my Moto360 while in the car
Factory Resetting the Phone

Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue.

Cheers

Re: Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues

You may need a bluetooth firmware update for your car's radio. Whenever new phones come out, there are compatibility issues with the newer Bluetooth stack connecting to a radio with older firmware. I would contact a ford service station to see if an update is available.

Re: Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues

My 6P worked fine pairing with a Toyota Highlander 2015. I also paired it with my Panasonic cordless phone system. It also worked with my Moto S305 headset and OontZ XL speaker.

Re: Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues

Oh crap, I didn't think about that. I've had the reverse problem: the phone will connect and the contacts will sync, but no other bluetooth functions will connect to the car because the car's hardware isn't compatible with newer bluetooth systems and there is no firmware update that will fix it. I love my car (2008 BMW 3 Series wagon), so I've made due (iPod connected direct via USB, and a great little bluetooth speaker that works for everything else); but now I'm concerned about this. Nothing about this yet on the BMW forums, but I'll keep checking. If I can't get the phone to connect with my car and sync my contacts, it will be a big problem.

To the OP, I really hope you get this worked out. Fingers crossed for both of us.

Re: Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues

I had a small issue pairing my 6P to my 2008 Audi. I cleared all the paired devices in the Audi then turned on Bluetooth in the 6P. The 6P finally saw the Audi's hands free and I was able to pair the two. This was not a surprise to me because I had to do this with my Galaxy S4 when it was new and when it received Lollipop. Also with my original HTC Thunderbolt. I don't believe the car has ever had a firmware update for Bluetooth (Audi dealers charge for updates).

Tried all this as well with no luck. It is connecting fine to my car for music however not for calls, super weird. I shall try a System update for my car and let you all know.

Re: Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues

I've been having a similarish issue with my 2014 Mazda3... The car will start calls, then loses the connection while the phone dials, then abruptly picks the call back up when the call connects. Interesting to note that I had the same problem with my N5 after it updated to Marshmallow... I think perhaps google tweaked something in the bluetooth stack that makes it misbehave with some car communication systems.

Off topic, but are you getting connection issues with your Moto 360 and the 6P? Mine disconnects and can never reconnect :/

Re: Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues

With my Moto X 2014, it was connected to my 2015 Honda Civic but only for phone calls. I was told that Honda Link would only work for iPhones but when I connected the 6P to it, I was surprised when it was reading texts to me, etc. I had no issues connecting it at all and it offers a lot more now than the Moto did.

Re: Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues

I am having issues too with my 2015 camaro. I can sync/pair the phone w car but when I stream music from google play or phone internal memory card, it skipps where it is unusable. Tried unpairing and re pairing the phone with the car. Rebooted the phone, and no luck. Guess I need to call the dealer but, how soon does a bluetooth update come from automaker for a new phone. If not able to resolve this matter within a week, the phone is going back. I stream all the time to and from work and must have.

Re: Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues

If you click on the Gear in your "Sync" what does it show? Mine has Audio, Phone and MAP(Text messages). I synced my 6P to my 2012 Mustang GT and 2014 F-150 without issues.

Re: Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues

I've been having trouble pairing my 6p with my 2009 Toyota Camry. My old Galaxy Nexus, was never a problem. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Re: Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues

Google has broken bluetooth on probably every major Android release.

JB, KK, L, and now M.

It always seems to take them 2 or 3 "R" versions to fix it.

Your settings have all these boxes checked I'm assuming. I'm not posting from a N6P however.
