Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues (With Car)

I have to say,the bluetooth issues on this phone could be the killer on it for me.
With the same accessories I had no issues on my old HTC One M7.
With my Sony BT headphones I'm getting calls where people cant hear me at all or hear a garbled 'dalek' voice. I can hear them fine.
Transfer the phone to its earpiece and no issues.
Streaming music is relatively problem free but range seems poor. Eg with the phone in my pocket if I lean forward the music cuts out.
Car BT performance seems better but its slow to connect unless I manually choose it.
I use my BT headphones a lot (convenience and I have a shoulder injury) so the poor performance is a real issue.

I guess I should feel lucky. I've never had BT issues before with my 6P, including connecting to my 2008 BMW 3 series, and the same is true since I upgraded to N last week. I'm finding BT functionality on N to be a little wonky in general - slow to connect mostly, and sometimes not auto connecting to known devices - but haven't had any trouble with it connecting to my car, disconnecting unexpectedly or dropping calls. Knock wood. But, yeah, BT on N is definitely glitchy. They really need to work on that.

I've always had a few Bluetooth issues on my 6P, but since the N update, it seems to be much worse (on both my vehicles and it doesn't even recognise my stereo receiver). I'm getting very frustrated with what is otherwise, a fantastic phone. I honestly can't believe that Google and Huawei can't fix this issue. Google, forget the self driving cars and just fix the damned Bluetooth issue!

Hi I am new to this forum .i have just got the phone straight out of the box and guess what Bluetooth problems straight away.so I downloaded all the updates and still no good.i then tried all the fixes and still no good ,so I then started my own investigations.eventually I looked up what the services did in developer mode.So please try this in the developer options, look for Bluetooth hci snoop log.disable this and it may fix your problems.its fixed mine.i re-enabled everything else and it's not stuttering with music so far...good look .....paul

Interesting approach. Can't find the Bluetooth hci snoop log in developer options though. Where is this?

I wonder if some of the phones just have a Bluetooth issue. I've had no real issues with the Bluetooth on my 6P since I bought it when the phone was first released (got the phone about 2 Nov). And this is both with Marshmallow and Nougat (including trying out the Nougat beta).

Never mind - found it. I'll give this a try.
It's off by default so I don't know why this would be a problem.

And although turning it on does generate a log file, the file is indecipherable (using any means that I tried anyway), so it's useless.

Yes you're correct - it is off by default. I tried turning it on to see if that would make a difference, but doesn't seem to. Frustration growing...

My bluetooth stereo connection cuts in and out the same on both Marshmallow and Nougat. If the phone is located correctly (must be within a foot of the sweet spot) then it works perfectly fine. My air vent holder just so happens to be in that sweet spot so I'm good. But it sucks ... As I said earlier my G S3 ALWAYS worked perfectly in my car.

So I now have something to compare with. Last week my car was in the shop for repairs. I had a 6 month old BMW 3 series loaner. My phone initially paired with the car without incident, and I was able to sync and use the phone and stream media via BT. But, after the first day, the media streaming became very unstable and eventually ceased altogether. I never had any problem with the phone, though. Very odd. And, fortunately, when I got my own car back, everything worked fine: the phone synced with the car and with the little portable BT speaker I use to stream media (mostly for Waze directions when I'm traveling somewhere unfamiliar). I had rented a car for a week a couple months ago and had no trouble pairing my 6P to the car and enjoy full functionality for the week I was in the rental. That was pre-Nougat, of course. Interesting (at least to me).

I have been having issues with call and music playback on my 2016 Honda Accord with my Nexus 6P ever since a beta update to Android N. The biggest problem has been calls through the car randomly going to the phone earpiece rather than coming through the car system. and some times when I answer the call it just keeps ringing through the car till I disconnect the phone from the car. I have tried a whole lot of fixes including resetting the car's paired device list, resetting the phone, replacement phones, etc.

The recent though I've had is that the bluetooth scanning feature may be interfering with the connection with the car, and especially since i have android auto running its trying to constantly get the location and probably keeps using bluetooth scanning. I just turned off both bluethooth and wifi scanning. The few tests I ran so far did not have any problems with calls or audio, but cant be sure till a longer test period as the problems were random before.

Just wanted to get this info out so more of you could test it out as well. Please let me know if this helps with your issues and I will report back in a week or so. Thanks

7.1.1 did not solve my BT issues with my Toyota Highlander 2015. The car system reboots whenever I connect my 6P to it. Turn off BT and the car stops booting. It's got me super annoyed I did not have this issue with early version of M.
