Nexus 6P vs Pixel XL

You can't make that comparison just by battery size alone. It's a whole different phone with a different processor, RAM, and software.

Of course I can:
- the specs for the 820 listed it at around 30% more efficient than the 810, not 100%
- 1GB more in RAM doesn't equate to better battery life: if anything it means more battery draw (more RAM to refresh; more crap running simultaneously)
- 7.1.1 is available for the Nexus 6P, so we're in the same ballpark

Look at the battery rundown tests from any review - I'll use GSMArena as an example:
Pixel XL - 78 hour endurance (http://m.gsmarena.com/google_pixel_xl-review-1513p3.php)
Nexus 6P - 74 hour endurance (http://m.gsmarena.com/huawei_nexus_6p-review-1355p3.php)

If I was in the market for a new phone right now, the Pixel XL would be a contender. Since I care more about functionality than the latest and greatest, the Nexus 6P will do just fine. Android used to be fun and a hobby, if I actually want something that works out of the box, there are better options. I'll be keeping the 6P for at least another year, and when it is time, I'll assess Android and iOS again, but with the direction Google is going, I'm leaning iOS. Right now, Google has forced me to run stock and locked bootloader because I actually enjoy the convenience of Android Pay and 7.1.1. Shame that Google has gone down this path, even though I can't blame them. But Apple does it better, and what Google did with the Pixel XL is laughable in so many ways. That slab of glass in the back being the biggest laugh of all, lol. Second, being the Verizon version of the Pixel and reading about their struggle with unlocking their bootloader with dePixel8. Don't judge me, I've been bored with my stock Android phone and have been lurking in other forums. I laugh at the Moto Z forums too, they don't even know. Lenovo will leave them hanging as soon as their next product is released, they'll get Nougat one of these days, but after? Good luck. 🤣

Love this camera!

I had the Nexus 5X with Project Fi and Note 5 with Verizon. Got the first Note 7 and then the replacement. Settled with the S7 Edge and I liked the Note 7 better. Shame !

I pre-ordered the Pixel thru Fi with payments for the photo storage and VR headset. I like the phone quite a bit, but prefer the Nexus 5x size. Nexus seems to have ever so slightly stronger signal.

I've watched a few pixel xl reviews and I think it's looks awesome, as simple as it is...which I like. I'd totally pick pixel over 6p if given the option. With that said, my 6p is such the perfect phone still that I don't need the latest...so I'm sticking to my 6P. But I am really excited for pixel 2. The camera and design, aside from speakers, are near perfect on pixel.

I don't think anyone loses both devices overall are still great, even if pixel is more refined software wise. For people stumped between the two, just know you'll have either of the best Android available...well that's my opinion. After the S6 and G4, stock is just the perfect version of Android...I learned that with the 2 months I had a moto x play (which was great just poor camera).

I had a Pixel XL on order from Verizon since the 18th, and just cancelled it today. The stock shortage gave me time to think it over, and especially after having dealt with one in store (don't know the issue but whenever I tried to open an app it crashed) I decided it wasn't worth it at this time. My 6p has some issues, but nothing glaring. I plan to do a FDR to freshen things up (still haven't done one on this phone which I believe is a first for me). Sure the Pixel is probably better all around, but having got a 128GB 6p with protect less than a year ago, it's not worth the money to upgrade for me. Maybe if my 6p goes bad I'll get it replaced, sell it, and pick up a Pixel, but more than likely I'll just hold onto it until the new ones next fall.

I made the same debate in one of my threads in regard to if the Pixel is worth the $30,0 plus extra. On paper it may have slightly better specs, branded a flagship and the major upgrade if one seriously considers this to be such is that its officially a Google device. Not even close in the real world performance difference to equal $300 plus superior sells price than the 6p. I've seen two rather intense reviews and basically the 6p was probably undervalued or rather priced at true market value along with it really being a Google phone but lacking Google owning it and saying its their official phone which I've found that a large part of the market will and has paid for it being Google as to me this first release is just a tweaked version of the 6p. Paper difference yes. Real world difference easily hardly noticeable to support the double retail value. Maybe their next model and I was even considering the 5 inch pixel until I found it on Amazon to be $700 plus. No way when I only paid 399 for the most similar and most comparable phone on the market to that of the pixel. I wished they would have made a 5 inch 6p. I'd already had had it in use if they would have.

Small differences seem larger initially tho. Note 4 >Note 5 > Note 7 > S7 Edge I felt the same thing. Even the N7 felt different in the hand.

The Nexus 5X was a nice size drop. The Pixel feels iPhone small, but it's not so bad after a few weeks.

We're long since past the point where the newer generation offers that much more performance to really justify the difference in price. Is the Pixel XL better than the 6P? Yep... Is the price difference between the two in proportion to those differences? Nope. But that's now par for the course with any new phone that is following a phone that, well, didn't suck or have some fatal flaw (like the wee battery on the none + S6 vs the S7)

I ordered a Pixel XL as a replacement for my Note 7.
Google kept me waiting too long and the "new phone fever" wore off.
I canceled the order and got a Nexus 6P through Project Fi.
I'm lovin' it so far!

Money well saved in my opinion.

Yeah, I think that's really not a bad option. I have a 6P and while I sure wouldn't kick an XL out of bed for eating crackers, I'm still pretty damn pleased with the 6P...
