I just received the OTA 5.1 upgrade, and it's installing as I write this. If you have the 2013 N7 wifi model, check for it now.

Just finished the download, so I don't have any other feedback yet. I don't expect any major problems from the 5.0.2 to 5.1. In fact, I expect it to be even smoother. I hope you get it soon.

Addendum: Just checked everything and it's running smoothly. It's definitely a little faster. I'm off charger, so I'll see how the battery life is now.

*So the Android 5.1 update bundles improvements in terms of ART and lots of code cleaning and optimisations on the framework for the Nexus 7. Another significant improvement is that the update now makes the quad-core processor run on all four cores all the time.*

My question is that the 2014 moto x and the nexus 6 both run a lot better now that 5.1 is out because it uses all cores in the processor (release notes). My question is, are all 4 cores going to run at one time for the N7 as well? If so, the nexus 7 should be a snappier, anyone know or can check now that we have the update.

Using the Tablet CPU Usage app, it would appear that 4 cores are in use.

Hmmm. I wonder how running 4 cores all the time would impact battery life.

Have not received the update yet.

On 5.1 and have had several spontaneous restarts, sometimes immediately after waking up and sometimes when opening an app. Never had an issue before 5.1. I did clear the cache partition but that didn't appear to make any difference.

Got it a couple of hours ago - no problems so far, definitely seems a bit faster.

I am downloading it now also. I'll have to wait until the weekend to really see how I like it and what it does.

I downloaded the update and will charge it up. My biggest concern is extended battery life. Hoping for some improvement.

Got it Thursday night, seems mostly quicker. Did have a random reboot this morning, which is rare for me. Was thinking of doing a full reset with 5.1, but now I'm hearing 5.1.1 is just around the corner so I'll wait.

I just installed it and can't get it out of portrait mode. Any suggestions?

Did you check that rotation is not locked under Settings? Also, try restarting and if that doesn't work, clear the cache partition.
