Nexus 7 32 GB - how buggy is it?

I've had my heart set on getting a Nexus 7 for a while now. I find the size to be good, 10 is a bit too large, and the specs are stunning for little money! However, I've been reading about some problems people have been having with the N7 rebooting randomly, GPS problems and lock ups.
I'm curious, is it really that buggy? Or are these just isolated incidents, one bad batch or something.
Someone said that it was the 16gig that was causing most problems.

What a silly question. How would any one of us know if it's 'just isolated incidents' or 'one bad batch' or 16 gig version only?

My N7 won't respond reliably with single touch and will only work well if I have a 2nd touch going on (on the bezel for the 1st touch works too).
Is that an isolated incident? Well I can say it's a bug on 100% of the N7s, because it happens on mine and I have exactly 1 unit.
The only way to know about a trend is to statistically analyze data from forums or service calls to all the vendors.
Even if the vendors had this info and analysis, they wouldn't tell any customers about it.

So any answers to this thread are purely anecdotal.
Just read the forums and make a judgement call.

By collecting anecdotal evidence and doing a statistical analysis of the answers posted here: we are looking at 3 out of 15 that had hardware issues, that's a failure rate of 20%. Even with my own experience of one hardware failure, I heartily recommend the tablet.

My Nexus 7 was delivered on 30th August and worked well for just over a month. It has transformed the way I work and I have very much enjoyed using it. But now the display has failed and the screen has gone blank. I'm now in contact with the supplier for a repair/replacement. Very disappointing to say the least.

Keep in mind that the number of people who complain about problems is generally many times higher (sometimes exponentially higher) than those that make a point to say their experience is good. So that 20% could easily be less than 5%.

As my first Android I am very happy with it. I have the 32gb version and has not been buggy at all. I am on it a lot more than my pc now. I love the form factor.

Sometimes the GPS/location fix works and sometimes it doesn't, same as when it first came out, updates made no difference/improvement.

Typing is a huge hassle, and it doesn't work with an external keyboard.

Those are my complaints.

The software update made the freaky multi-touch go away, but it didn't correct the unresponsive single touch problem for me anyway.

So there is no evidence that the newer units fix anything? I have 16gb that has a problem with single touches and reboots frequently. I was going to give it to my son and try a 32gb for myself but if nothing has been resolved it may be time for a kindle

I dont know about the newer units, but the updates havent fixed anything at all on my "old" unit.

Got mine two weeks ago and have used it a lot and haven't had a single issue.

Very stable. Took a few Chrome updates to get it right. Before that, Chrome caused quite a few resets.

I received my 32gb unit on July 26th. Zero touch screen issue. Zero GPS issues. None of the random reboots or any other issues. Works great. Love it. Hands down the best tablet IMO. It's a beast.

Based on the feedback consistent through all of these threads, I'd say that's a misunderstanding. It'd be more accurate to say that the few units that have bugs have for the most part been corrected, the majority are either bug free or have so few bugs as to not cause complaints, and that no one has established any provable correlation between old and new units being linked to the quantity of bugs to be found or not found.

So while the statement might be technically correct, it seems to be that way accidentally and the intended common understanding would be very misleading, compared to something that would state, "so am I to understand that my chances of getting a defective unit are very low, irregardless of whether or not the unit that I purchase is old or new?" Most of the feedback seems to indicate that the defective hardware issues are not fixed by software updates (of course not) and that they're on a tiny number of devices. The software issues are for the most part fixed by software updates, however some people are better served by exchanging their tablet.

Don't just give a broken device to your son. The frequent reboots are probably a hardware issue that Asus should replace for you. Then give that to your son and buy a 32GB for yourself. Mine (with hardware problems) was a July build, but I was able to exchange it at the store and now have an August build that seems fine - however, I haven't seen any correlation to specific builds being either better or worse, just some small number of failures that the internet echo magnification factor makes seem large...

GPS is fine, keyboard errors happen about once a week for 5-10 seconds and haven't tried a keyboard. Bluetooth I'm assuming?

My GPS always gets a reliable location fix. I use SwiftKey and it works reliably. Any keying problems will always be mine.

However my blue tooth 2 mouse and keyboard do not work because of a known blue tooth 2 bug. I look for 4.4 KitKat to fix it. Blue tooth 3 devices work just fine.

Other than blue tooth 2, I have no other issues and really do like my Nexus 7.
