Nexus 7 any good for taking notes?

I am looking for a tablet primarily for taking notes while in meetings. I realize that a bigger tablet (lets say the Nexus 10) may be ideal for something like this, but I wanted to know if people here are using the Nexus 7 for notes - writing text, maybe drawing a little? I ask because I recently saw someone with a Note 2. And it occurred to me that if a 5-inch machine can be touted as a decent size for notes and diagrams, surely a 7-inch thing would do even better?

I saw that there are threads here on styluses to use, but I am not sure there's been enough said about whether the N7 is a good note-taking device. I've looked around the web and most reviews talk about it capabilities for books, magazines, games and web browsing. Fair, but thats not my key requirement from a tablet.

There is no reason why you could not. I would think you would prefer a bluetooth or USB keyboard instead of the screen one - that would leave more screen real estate visible aside from the better typing interface of a larger and more standard keyboard. For that matter, unless you have a problem with portability, you could use the keyboard you are currently used to with no problem.

All you will need is to turn on the bluetooth or purchase a 88 cent USB OTG cable to plug your keyboard into and a (free) note-taking app like Evernote or a simple text editor.

A nice case with a stand would be useful to prop up the Nexus 7 like a laptop screen. There are plenty of threads here talking about what is available.

I feel nexus 7 is a good tablet for talking notes. I use the app Evernote whenever i take notes.

I sideloaded the Asus Supernote app and it works great! I take it to meetings and keep my notes on it. It allows me to handwrite and draw with a stylus. Later on, I transcribe if necessary to make a little easier to read.

Are you wanting to type or write notes? How thorough do the notes need to be? A few quick jots, or fast & detailed? How well it'll do depends on exactly what you need it to do...

Good tip! Just sideloaded the apk. Have not really used it yet but messing around with it for about 15 minutes and it looks like it will be a useful app!

if you're talking about typing notes, the device on which you type makes more of a difference than the screen itself. If you want to do some serious note-taking, I'd invest in a portable bluetooth keyboard. otherwise, using a keyboard app like SwiftKey works just fine--the N7 is small enough that on-screen typing isn't awkward. if you want to scribble notes, I'd also second the Supernote APK

I use Graffiti Pro. It's based on the old Palm handwriting software & I've found I can write as quick with this as I can with a pen with the added bonus that you can scribble without looking at the screen! I've not found any other app that works as well for me.

I often use the 7notes keypad, I have found with my handwriting it is pretty good at converting my handwriting to text, which means I can input with the speed of almost writing, but have it in a typed format. I tend to use it with OneNote, because then it syncs it with easy access, but that's just personal preference!

I only use a cheap stylus that came with the case, so I think a better quality stylus will be my next purchase

I use my n7 for notes in meetings with teachers and administrators as well as with a keyboard in graduate school. Had a ten inch tab and that was too bulky for me. Sold the ten and bought the n7.

I like thumb typing in meeting for short hand, but if I'm there for a while, a slim bluetooth keyboard is great.
